Introduction

This  media  guide  is  designed  to  assist  you  in  selecting  the  right  paper  types  for  your  device  to  ensure  you
achieve the best possible print quality and finish to your documents.

In 2012, Sharp launched the following products into its Light Production range:

Colour

MX-6240N
MX-7040N

Black-and-White

MX-M904
MX-M1054
MX-M1204

And  in  Autumn  2013,  Sharp  also  launched  the  following  Colour  Production  devices  which  further  expand
Sharp’s reach into the Colour Production market.

MX-6500N
MX-7500N

All  of  these  Production  class  MFPs  are  aimed  at  Large  Departments,  Corporate  Reprographics  Departments
(CRDs), Print Rooms, Copy Shops and Commercial Printers looking to support larger Digital and Offset print
devices with an affordable Light Production offering.

It is in these environments / target markets that users often require much more versatile paper handling when
compared to more basic Office MFPs.    The reason for this is that these devices are often specifically linked to a
specific type of output that is being performed on a regular basis and/or linked to a particular customer who
has  certain  requirements  for  a  media  type(s)  on  a  regular  basis.    The  requirement  for  special  media  in  the
Production arena is, therefore, a high priority for this class of device.

What this document aims to do is to list all of the tested and untested media that are recommended by Sharp
and also list any particular requirements / recommendations for the use of each media type.

DISCLAIMER

Although every possible effort has been made by Sharp Electronics to rigorously test a wide variety of media
types, it is virtually impossible to thoroughly test every single media type available on the worldwide market
today.    Therefore,  some  media  recommendations  have  been  made  purely  on  the  basis  of  media  type  /
description from the manufacturer of that media.

This  document  will  differentiate  between  tested  and  untested  media  types  but  with  all  media  listed  in  this
document it is important to remember that no specific media type can be 100% guaranteed even though (in
some cases) it has been tested by Sharp Electronics.    This is mainly due to the number of variables involved
such  as  media  care/handling,  regular  device  maintenance,  ambient  humidity  /  temperature,  use  of  Sharp
Genuine consumables / spare parts etc, etc…    Therefore, Sharp Electronics will not be held responsible nor be
liable to take action to correct situations or conditions resulting from any media that is underperforming against
a customers’ expectations.
