Page output to non-sort tray
This is the output that results from selecting page mode or from using
a non-custom driver.

There is no limit to the number of pages printed.
Pages are printed in order transmitted
Pages are stacked 1-N (reverse) order That is pages are stacked with
page 1 on top, successive pages below

D. Language
Rendering
There are 2 complete languages covered by this specification, Post-
Script, PCL-5e.

PostScript and PCL5e duplicate the functionality of HP Laserjet 5
series, operating in Laserjet 3 mode except for resolution.

The HP-GL stroke font is supported.
PCL5e is not fully compatible since PCL5e requires 600dpi or 300 dpi
and AR-5132 only supports 400dpi.

E. Emulation
Selection
The emulation to be used in rendering data can be selected automat-
ically or by a set of predefined rules.

Automatic emulation switching is accomplished by selecting the
rendering emulation based on selected features of the data stream

1. Emulation Selection Method
Sharp supplied printer drivers and utilities send emulation data that
can be decoded. It is possible that there are some poorly behaved
applications that is not supply data such that the format can be unam-
biguously selected.

G. Contention Between Printing and Copying
Contention between printing and copying is managed by the copier
The copier can be switched manually to print mode. The copier will
automatically switch to print mode after a configurable idle period and
after a print job has been started in the print controller

Printing may be interrupted by copying.
There is 1 setting in the copier controller for contention:

(6) Compatibility
A. Compatibility with PostScript Printers
For the PostScipt or PCL-5 output from a typical printer driver the
5132 printing system will print essentially the same output as would
be produced on a Laserjet 5si when both are set to page printer
mode, single copy.

Compatibility does not include PJL commands.
Compatibility does not include small margin differences, differences in
font rendering due to different underlying font families, or differences
in default screening and transfer functions.

B. Compatibility with HP PostScript
The target for Roman PostScript compatibility is Adobe PostScript as
implemented in the Laserjet 5si

(8) Print Quality

400 dpi

400 dpi RET
Default ON

400 dpi Toner mode
Default OFF
B. RET (Resolution Enhancement Technology)
The RET reduces zigzag in characters and curves to provide pseudo-increased resolution.
The RET makes the print quality of characters and slant lines better than the engine resolution. The position and size of each dot is adjusted to
provide smooth curves. This function exerts no effect on the parallel and horizontal lines.
provide smooth curves. This function exerts no effect on the parallel and horizontal lines.
RET realizes a high resolution of 1200dpi by dividing one dot into 3 (changing the lighting pulse time of laser).
C. Toner save mode
The toner save mode prints the outlines of black background sections with black lines and the black background sections with half tone (not only the
characters but also all print images) to save toner consumption.

The toner save mode is used to reduce toner consumption compared with the normal print mode toner consumption, and it is not for increasing print
speed. It is generally used for draft printing. To reduce toner consumption, the outlines of characters are reproduced without change, and the black
density inside the outlines is reduced.
