Brightness: Used to adjust the overall brightness of
the document(s). The document(s) may be lightened
or darken using the preset amounts.
Available Options:

ii. 90%
Lighter
iii. 95%
Light
iv. 100%
Normal
v. 105%

vi. 110%

vii. 115%

Toner Reduction: Used to eliminate toner “overload or blasting” on the page.
Toner overload or blasting refers to when the document specifies large amounts
of each colour in a given area. The media type being used may not be able to
support large quantities of toner, therefore this options reduces the amount of
toner each colour applies to an acceptable level.
Available Options:
i.
þ -- Toner reduction mode is on. If the combined percentage of
toner in a given area is greater than 250% the Fiery will
automatically equally reduce each colour’s applied toner for a
combine percentage not greater then 250%.
ii.
¨ -- Toner reduction mode is off. The Fiery will print the
specified amount of toner for each colour in any given area of the
document.
Addition Information: Using PhotoShop’s Sampler Tool, the amount of toner in
percent in a given area can be determined.
PhotoShop’s Eyedropper tool indicates
that the combine toner in this area is
264%, therefore if the Fiery’s Toner
Reduction mode is ON the combine
percentage of toner will be reduce to
250%.

FreeForm: Allows the user to merge a previously created and RIPed document
(called the Master document) that is stored on the Fiery’s hard drive with another
document (called the variable data document). FreeForm is typically used when
printing a document that contains repetitive information such as PowerPoint
presentation slide backgrounds.
By merging the Variable data document to the Master document, the Fiery will
process the entire document at a much greater speed then if the document were to
be printed “normally”.
Create Master: When creating a Master document for use
with Freeform the Master document must be assigned a
reference number. The reference number is determined in
this field.
Available Options:
i.
None – A Master document will not be
created/assigned.
ii.
1~15 – The document will be assigned the
corresponding number.
Use Master: When the user wishes to merge the Variable data
document to the master document, the Master document’s
reference number will be specified in this field.
Available Options:
i.
None – The variable data document will not be
merged with a Master document.
ii.
1~15 – The document being printed will be
merged with the Master document that is
specified in this field.
Remove White PPT Background: Used when printing variable
data that was created in PowerPoint. This option will remove the
white opaque background from each PowerPoint slide. If this option
is not selected when printing variable data from PowerPoint, the
Variable data will “cover” the background slide (Master document).
The result will appear as if the Master document was not merged.
Available Options:
i.
þ -- Removes the White PPT Background
ii.
¨ -- When printing Master’s from PPT or when
printing from other applications.
Normal document printing: The user would print the document as it
appears. In this case the Fiery would have to spool and RIP the “repetitive’
background for each of the slides in the presentation.
Using FreeForm: The user would first create a single slide containing only
the repetitive information that is displayed in all the slides. The document
would then be assigned a Master document reference number and printed.
The document will now be in a Rasterized format and residing on the Fiery’s
hard drive.
The user would then create all the slides for the presentation (Variable data)
without the background (repetitive objects). Using the FreeForm tab, the
Master document reference would be specified and the variable data
document is printed.
The variable data document contains little information and therefore will be
processed quickly. The Master document already resides on the Fiery in a
rasterized state therefore RIPing the Master is not required. The Fiery simply
merges both documents and outputs the pages to the copier for printing at a
high rate.
