MSBlast Virus Protection

Model Name:
AR-PE1

Description:
MSBlast or W32.Blaster.Worm is a virus that exploits the DCOM RPC
vulnerability using TCP port 135. This virus only targets Windows NT, 2000,
2003 & XP machines.

Because the AR-PE1 uses Windows NT4 operating system, the controller is
vulnerable if not properly patched.

The following symptoms may occur if the AR-PE1 is affected by the virus:-

1.  The Controller keeps rebooting by itself.
2.  Failure to Print (Jobs are spooled/ripped)
3.  Complete loss of data from the Job Log

To note, the AR-PE2 and AR-P15 are not affected by this virus.

Action

Upgrade and install the following system software patches:-

    1-ANKZ9.ps

SP6a
Installer
update
    1-ANC11.ps
Q823980
Security
Hotfix

For existing SharpEye subscribers, the updates can only be found on the
October 2003 release of CD14 (AR-C150 & AR-C250)

Note:
When downloading and installing the update patches, the 1-ANKZ9.ps
(SP6a) patch MUST be installed first, prior to downloading and installing the
1-ANC11.ps (Hotfix) patch.

DO NOT Download both patches together to the direct queue.

Also, the above patches must not be installed onto earlier AR-C150 System
Software (v1.01,1.02 or v1.03).
