A t elevision set  shall be so designed t hat  t he 
likelihood of  ignit ion and t he spread of  f ire 
caused by a candle f lame is reduced. 

NOTE 1 An apparat us w it h a view ing screen is 
not  regarded t o be a t elevision set  if  it  is 
declared not  t o be so by t he manuf act urer.  

This requirement  does not  apply t o t he display 
screen of rear projection TV’ s. 

NOTE 2 This exempt ion has been allow ed 
because t his t echnology is f alling out  of  use and 
it  is expect ed t hat  w it hin a f ew  years it  w ill no 
longer exist . This exempt ion w ill not  be 
ext ended t o ot her t echnologies.

dash of  clause 5.2 of  CLC/TS 62441, does not  
mean a perf ect ly vert ical posit ion. It  should be 
int erpret ed as any surf ace t hat  can be t ouched 
by t he f lame of  a candle of  150 mm height  and 
20mm diamet er w hile t he candle is st ill t ouching 
t he support ing surf ace. A t ypical candle used in 
t he home is assumed t o be 20 mm diamet er.  

NOTE 5 It  is expect ed t hat  CLC/TS 62441 w ill in 
t he f ut ure be replaced by a st andard, at  w hich 
t ime t hat  st andard w ill become applicable, 
subject  t o a vot e by Nat ional Commit t ees at  t he

The screen of  t he cable dist ribut ion syst em is 
normally not  eart hed at  t he ent rance of  t he 
building and t here is normally no equipot ent ial 
bonding syst em w it hin t he building. Theref ore 
t he prot ect ive eart hing of  t he building inst allat ion 
need t o be isolat ed f rom t he screen of  a cable 
dist ribut ion syst em.  

It  is how ever accept ed t o provide t he insulat ion 
ext ernal t o t he equipment  by an adapt er or an 
int erconnect ion cable w it h galvanic isolat or, 
w hich may be provided by e.g. a ret ailer.   

The user manual shall t hen have t he f ollow ing or 
similar inf ormat ion in Norw egian and Sw edish 
language respect ively, depending on  in w hat  
count ry t he equipment  is int ended t o be used in:   
“ Equipment connected to the protective earthing 
of  t he building inst allat ion t hrough t he mains 
connect ion or t hrough ot her equipment  w it h a 
connect ion t o prot ect ive eart hing

may in some circumst ances creat e a f ire hazard.

providing elect rical isolat ion below  a cert ain 
f requency range (galvanic isolat or, see EN

11)”   

NOTE In Norw ay, due t o regulat ion f or inst allat ions of  cable 
dist ribut ion syst ems, and in Sw eden, a galvanic isolat or shall 
provide electrical insulat ion below  5 MHz. The insulat ion 
shall w it hst and a dielectric st rengt h of  1,5 kV r.m.s., 50  Hz 
or 60 Hz, f or 1 min.
