ABOUT  THE  REPAIRING  OF  BOARD
When the board installed by this unit is defective, replace the com-
plete mounted board. The individual mounted electrical parts can-
not replace and repair.
Moreover, the SW board cannot replace with single. If replace the 
SW board, be sure to replace the MAIN board simultaneously.
The MAIN board can replace with single.
FORMATTING  MEMORY
You can initialize your Walkman by formatting the memory.
1. From the Home menu, select 
 [Settings].
2. Select [Common Settings] - [Reset/Format] - [Format System Storage]
3. Follow the on-screen instructions to format the memory.
Note
Be sure not to initialize (format) the memory of your Walkman using a computer. 
If you have formatted it with a computer, format it again using the Walkman.
Formatting the memory erases all content data (songs, etc., including the sample 
data installed at the factory, and the supplied software installer). Be sure to check 
the data stored in the memory and export any important data to your computer
before formatting.

RESETTING  TO  THE  FACTORY  SETTINGS
Your Walkman can be reset to the default settings. Resetting the Walkman
will not delete content such as music.
1. From the Home menu, select 
 [Settings].
2. Select [Common Settings] - [Reset/Format] - [Reset All Settings] - [Yes].
Note
If you reset your Walkman to the factory settings, the pairing information 
of the connected Bluetooth devices will be deleted.
NOTE  OF  REPLACING  THE  SCREWS
(Except for Chinese model)
There is the combination of the CASE and two screws that affi x the 
BOTTOM PLATE to the CASE.
When replacing the screws, make sure that you confi rm the color 
of the screws by referring to the fi gure below, and replace by using 
the same screw color and size.
You can replace the CASE without regard for the color of the 
screws.

SPACER
Along with changes to the window assy, the window spacer has 
been deleted in the middle of production. Due to these changes, 
there are certain combinations when replacing the window assy or 
case assy. When replacing the window assy or case assy, follow the 
descriptions below.
Note: When replacing the case assy, be sure to refer to “NOTES WHEN 
REPLACING THE CASE ASSY WITH THE ADDITION OF THE 
LID GUIDE SPACER”.
•  If a window spacer is installed

Replacing the window assy:
Peel off the window spacer, and then install the window assy. You 
cannot correctly install a new window assy while the window 
spacer is installed.
Replacing the case assy (but not the window assy):
Re-affi x the window spacer or affi x a new window spacer to the 
case assy.
Replacing the case assy (also the window assy):
While the window spacer is peeled off, affi x a new window assy 
to the case assy. You cannot correctly install a new window assy 
while the window spacer is installed.
•  If a window spacer is not installed

When replacing the window assy or case assy, replace them as is 
with new parts.

NOTES  WHEN  REPLACING  THE  CASE  ASSY  WITH  
THE  ADDITION  OF  THE  LID  GUIDE  SPACER
The lid guide spacer has been added in the middle of production. 
The lid guide spacer must be installed when replacing the case 
assy. When replacing the case assy, follow the descriptions below.
Note 1:
  When replacing the case assy, be sure to refer to “NOTES WHEN 
REPLACING THE WINDOW ASSY OR CASE ASSY WITH 
THE DELETION OF THE WINDOW SPACER”.
1.  Checking if there is a lid guide spacer
Check if a lid guide spacer is installed on the new case assy.
Note 2:
  A lid guide spacer may or may not be installed on a new case assy.

2.  Replacing the case assy
If a lid guide spacer is not installed on the new case 
assy:
Install the lid guide spacer on the new case assy, and then replace 
the case assy.
Note 3:
 For details about the installation position of the lid guide spacer, 
refer to “2-18. CASE ASSY” on page 23.
If a lid guide spacer is installed on the new case assy:
Proceed with replacing the case assy.
ABOUT  CHANGES  TO  COMPONENTS  OF  THE  BASS 
PLATE  ASSY  OR  BATTERY  ASSY
The cushions installed on the bass plate assy and battery assy have 
been deleted in the middle of production. Although bass plate assy 
and battery assy with and without cushions exist, you can replace 
the bass plate assy or battery assy because there are no problems 
installing them during replacement, regardless of the presence of 
cushions.
