Sharp has added card reader functionality into the user control settings to allow card access to the 
following Devices:  

MX2610/3110N (Aries) ensure sim 55-03 sw6 bit 8 is set to 1 

MX4112/5112N (Virgo) ensure sim 55-03 sw6 bit 8 is set to 1

On the Web page of the relevant MFP in User control set User Authentication to “enable” then select 
Authenticate a user by Login Name and Password. 

Do not select Authenticate by User Number only as 

this is not compatible with card reader functionality.

 

 

Create required Page limit, Authority and Favorite Operation groups. 

Add users applying the relevant Page Limit, Authority and Favorite Operation groups. 

 
 

 

 

 

The MFP will now display the User Authentication login screen. Check that you can login and make a 
copy and print with the created users. 

 

 

 
 

 

With the card reader plugged into the MFP go to settings and select User Control on the MFP screen 
then scroll down to Card Reader Device Registration and select the read button. 

 

You may get a message saying connect a card reader. If this is the case unplug then reconnect the card 
reader wait for the card reader to initialize the press OK.
