The day number is automatically incremented by the system clock.
Amongst other things, the day number is printed at the top of the printed
reports.
On these machines unlike some of the other models, the report
information is stored against the day number.
This functionality means that the server can recall a previously printed
report within a seven day period and re-print that report simply by
selecting the day number.
The week number is also automatically incremented by the system
clock and the number is printed on period reports.
The next field is the End of week day.
This number is set for your customers, if they require a weekly report to
be carried out automatically on a particular day number.
For example they may require the weekly report to be printed on the
seventh day of each week, therefore 7 would be set as the end of week
day, then on the seventh day after the end of day report has been taken
the weekly report would automatically be printed.
If you don’t want the weekly or periodic report as it may be better
understood, to take place automatically, then you would enter a zero
here, that way the server can go to the report screen and take these
periodic reports whenever is appropriate.
The next area is a set of flags which relate to the reports that you want
the system to generate at the End of day.
They are:-
End of day log:- This will print out  the machine numbers that have been
part of the end of day consolidation report, therefore it will show if any of
the terminals have been missed.
End of day product sales
End of day department sales
End of day server sales
End of day group sales
End of day open table report
End of day covers analysis report
42
Flag 8 is not being used
flags nine to 13 are set for reports you want to generate automatically by
the end of week report
they are:-
End of week product report
End of week department report
End of week group report
End of week covers report
And finally the period Financial report which is a period version of the
close session.
And then there is a set of system flags that can be set to import or
export files to a host computer, at the end of day.
These files include the sales files from the machine in their standard
format and the consolidated terminal report, the consolidated
department report, the consolidated group report and server report in
comma delimited text format.
This ends the explanation of this screen.
After completing this screen and going back to the sub menu you are
able to select the next product which is Mix and Match.
From this screen you are able to set up the mix and match offers. There
are up to 50 offers that can be set.
The offers can be set for a specified date period, for example active
from the 1st of November to 10th of November.
There is also a minimum amount setting that can be set, this is termed
the value, if the value is set to £10.00 then the products that are sold as
part of this offer must be equal to or higher than £10.00 before the offer
can be applied.
If the value is left at zero then the transaction value is not looked at.
The offer allows you to give either a cash offer, or a free product when a
specific quantity or value of products are sold.
43
For example you could set up an offer so that, if a starter and a mains
dish is sold together a free dessert is given.
Or if 2 bottles of wine are purchased  £1.00 is discounted.
The receipt and bill will print the free offer and the receipt will also print
an extra line, called multi-buy savings and the amount.
If you end this screen we can then enter the final selection from this sub
menu which is the exchange rates.
This function is to be used for currency conversion.
There are up to eight currency rates that can be set.
The ninth rate is a manual rate that can be entered at the time of
finalising the transaction. This rate can be set to 6 decimal places.
This operation of this feature is ideal for the EURO currency.
This completes the programming and functionality section.
SUMMARY
Now you have listened to information on this tape, regarding the
machines functionality and programmability, you will have a good idea of
their capabilities.
What has not been mentioned during the tape, is the speed of
operation. Because of the way the servers are stored on the system,
there is no delay in calling servers to screen, and  because the system
is centralized, transactions can be started on any machine and picked
up at another machine without any delay.
44
The programming on these machines is very easy, in fact it is very
unusual to have to refer to a manual, as the information displayed on
screen is usually self explanatory.
Some of the more powerful and flexible features are the lists and the
printing, it seems that these two areas provide the functionality which will
more than meet all of your customers needs.
Similarly features relating to tables or rooms will accommodate the
customers requirements, with table splitting, table merging and
transferring bar transactions to a table, to name but a few.
The promotions area with its timed happy hour and flexibility on
discounted products, is as comprehensive as could possibly be.
There is also a host of retail functions, with a range of scanning features
and the mix and match functionality. Then there is the capability of
cheque printing and so on.
There is also the specialty area with the currency conversion feature.
There are so many other features on these EPoS, and all have been
designed to meet the demands of the customer.
The final section of this tape is to inform you of the back office software
that is available for these products.
Although there may be other software available from other suppliers the
ones mentioned here have live sites linked to these EPoS machines.
Basically there are 3 areas of back office software.
There is Hotel Reservation software package’s and there are two
suppliers of this they are Nexsoft and Guest Master.
