printing the function it would be written to a  text file, this can then be
accessed through DOS.
The function number displayed on the left hand side is the number you
would enter when assigning that key to the keyboard.
The first function on the list is function 1 called server number.
This key is used the way a  clerk code key would be used on other cash
registers, the server would enter their number followed by the server
key.
It is also worth noting that on these machines the server system can be
code entry or pre-set servers assigned to the keyboard, or real keys for
servers or any combination of these running together.
This would allow the managers to carry real keys for extra security,
Whilst other servers use pre-sets or code entry on the same machine.
The next key is table number.
This key is similar in operation to a GLU key on other models.
The table number is entered followed by the table number key the same
key is used for new tables or existing tables or when you want to
transfer the screen transaction to a table.
PRODUCTS is the next key. This key is used to enter the products
code manually.
Quantity is the next key, this is used to enter a quantity against the
product, normally this is not required for entering pre-set products as
the Server simply presses 3 followed by the product .however if you
want to sell a quantity from a displayed list then you first press the
quantity key followed by the amount then select the product from the list.
The Subtotal is next. This is used to display the subtotal amount. It will
also display any applicable discount or premium.
If pressed for a table transaction a bill will be printed, and any products
that have been set to go to the kitchen will be printed.
26
It is worth noting that the subtotal amount of the transaction is always
displayed on the bottom of the screen, so the subtotal key is not
required to be pressed just for this information.
The next function is receipt. This key is used to print or reprint the
customers receipt, it is not a receipt on/off key, this is a separate
function. The receipt will contain the products and payment type.
Previous receipts can also be printed under  certain conditions.
The bill function is next. The difference between a receipt and a bill is
the bill will be printed before the transaction has been completed. This
would be used to present the bill to a customer before final  payment.
As many bills as required can be printed.
Function number 8 which is free transaction is next. The EPoS can be
set in such a way that only the server who started a table transaction can
continue serving that table. If the EPoS is set in this way, then the free
transaction key would have to be pressed to free the transaction for
another server.
Function 9 is the clear key, this would be used to clear any input that has
not yet been stored in the machine. It is also used when the EPoS
displays messages such as clear to continue. It is also used to put the
EPoS into a secure mode this can then prevent certain servers getting
into the main menu screen.
The next function is redisplay. This is used to display the first 8 lines of
the current transaction. For example if the current transaction has 20
lines of products and you want to look at this transaction from the
beginning press the redisplay key.
Void product is the next function. This is used to void an individual
product from the transaction. To do this you would select the product
using the up or down arrow keys, then press the void key.
Function 12 is the void transaction. This will void the whole transaction
as with many of the other function keys relevant messages will appear
on the screen for the Servers guidance such as enter to confirm these
are there to prevent mistakes.
27
For obvious reasons this function would normally be set with a high
authority level.
The next function is error correct. This is used to cancel the last product
entered on the screen .It can not be used after subtotal or after a server
interrupt.
The no sale function is next this is mainly used to open the drawer
outside a transaction.
Function 15 and 16 are set as spare on the 850 and 880 models. Any
functions which are named spare are not used at present.
However on the UP5700 function 15 is the screen key. This is used to
change to another screen or keyboard.
Function 17 is named pre-set. However this function is no longer used
as there is a quicker method of assigning pre-set products to the
keyboard.
Function 18 to 33 are used for the payment types. You would therefore
allocate the function such as payment type 1 to the keyboard. Then
assign cash to be payment type 1, we covered the payment types in an
earlier section
Function 34 is auto receipt. This is the receipt on/off switch. The capital
letter A will be displayed to the server if the machine is in auto receipt
condition.
Function 35 is spare.
Function 36 is VIP. This function key is used to change the price band
of the products.
For example if product 10 is set to one pound for price band 1 and set
to zero for price band 4, you can set up the EPoS so that when the VIP
key is pressed, the products sold will be at price band 4.
The VIP price band key will be active for the transaction or until the VIP
key is pressed for a second time. Also the letter v will be displayed
informing the server that VIP key is active.
28
Function 37 which is the pre-set server function is no longer required on
current versions of software.
Function 38 is the split table function. This function allows the server to
split products from a bill and create a new split bill  for the customer.
Once the products have been split it is then necessary for this part of
the bill to be finalised.
The next function code is code 38, this is the refund function. The letter
r will appear on the top of the display informing the Server they are in
refund mode.
The refunded product will not appear on the kitchen printers.
The manager function is next this function is unlike all the others in that it
is not an actual key top.
The way in which this function works is the server authority level is
checked and if it is lower than the manager function then that server will
not be allowed to get back to the main menu. The advantage of this is
that servers can be prevented from performing any of the jobs from the
main menu such as close session or entry into the report screen and so
on. In effect this means that the server is locked into the trading screen.
Function numbers from 41 through to 48 are not used.
The next function is code 49 which is the display open table report.
Upon depression of this key all the currently open tables will be
displayed on the screen. This will inform the Server of the table number,
the date and time the table was opened, the server name or unassigned
if it is a floating table, and then the outstanding balance.
Function 50 is open account table report this is similar to the previous
function, except that this key will display only the account type tables
that are open.
Account type tables were discussed earlier, but to briefly recap these
are table which will usually remain in the system overnight.
The next function which is 51 is currency conversion. There are Up to 9
currency conversion rates that can be used. The amount due will appear
