The list on these machines provide excellent functionality and flexibility
and  will satisfy all your customers needs.
There are up to 99 lists per system. And you can have up to 48
products per list on the 850 or up to 54 products on the 5700.
On the 850 the lists will appear as a box on the left hand side of the
screen with a maximum of 8 products being displayed at any one time.
On the touch version the items within a list will appear as a new
keyboard.
The lists on the UP5700 can have different size and colour keys.
Enter 1 to set up list 1.
On the UP5700 you then enter the keyboard it is to be assigned to.
A new screen will be displayed I will explain this screen:-
The list number is displayed on the top left hand side.
Then you have the list name this will be displayed on the Server screen.
When creating a new list on the 850 or 880 the type can be changed
between products type or function. The function list can contain any of
the function keys for example you may want to create a payment type
list and include all the credit card type payments in it. This would save
allocating a different key on the keyboard for each of the credit cards.
The keyboard number or Screen number may have to be entered. This
depends on whether it is a function type list or if the EPoS is a UP5700.
I would point out that most lists will be products type.
The highlighted cursor will then appear at the bottom of the screen.
Row, column, height and width are all used to set the appearance of the
list and are only applicable to the 850.
On the UP5700 the appearance of the list is changed by selecting the
format, this refers to the key size, if you press the space bar the key
sizes will change for example 1 by 6 or 4 by 4, you would probably have
to experiment with these setting to see if looks right.
18
The appearance can be made to look very attractive, user friendly and
professional.
These setting are ignored on the ERA880 as they are not required.
Then you can select the minimum and maximum number of Items. For
example here you can set the list to be removed from the screen after
one product has been sold or remain on the screen until 3 products are
sold and so on.
However the minimum and maximum numbers you enter here will be
ignored if you select stay down as yes.
The link list is the list number you want to be displayed when any
product from this list is sold.
So not only can individual products be linked to a list, but the list itself
can be linked, this means you won’t have to set up each product to be
linked.
Border required will only display a border if the height is set less than 8
again this is not applicable to the 880 or UP5700.
Numeric selection only applies to the 850.
The Server must press the corresponding number displayed on the list
to sell that product. Alternatively the up or down arrow keys would be
used to make selection.
Visible frame is not used.
Stay down is a commonly set as yes, if it is set to yes, each time a
product is selected from a list it is displayed as sold and the list remains
on screen.

If no is selected then the products do not appear on the screen until the
list is cleared from the screen.
Now that we have gone through the settings for the list we will now enter
the products on the list.
19
Once you are in the list file maintenance there is a message below the
bottom line which says “F3 edit items”. If the F3 key is pressed then the
cursor will take you to the middle of the screen. This is where you will
enter the product codes you wish to appear when this list key is
pressed.
If you selected this list type to be a function list the screen will be
slightly different  and you would enter the key type such as payment or
function then the numeric value of that type. For example to set up the
void product in the list you would select function type then value 11
which is the void function.
At this point you could press the F2 key, this will display the complete
function list on screen, making the programmers job much easier.
That ends the explanation for lists if the end key is now pressed you will
come back to the programming sub menu.
The next selection on this menu is the group file.
In this area you can program up to 99 groups, with  up to 21 characters
of description, as on other models of cash register the groups are used
for report purposes only.
again you will see the jobs available at the bottom of the screen.
select  A  to add or C to change  and so on, then when finished  press
the end key.
This will again take you back to the sub menu.
The  next  selection is the department file
You can have up to  99 departments each with up to 21 characters of
text for the descriptor, these then have to be assigned to a group.
You will remember earlier in the this tape, we mentioned that the groups
and departments have to be set up before the products can be set up.
20
This ends the department file explanation.
The next programming area is the Server file.
You can have up to 999 servers on the system, each with up to 21
characters of text.
We will add a new server to the system.
Press A to add, enter the server number you want between  1 and 999
The server name is now highlighted ready for you to enter the text.
After the text has been entered, the Authorisation level area is
highlighted.
Here you can enter a number between 0 and 5.
5 being the highest authority level. The way this authorisation works is
every function has an authority level set against it between 0 and 5
For example server 1 would be set up as level 5 and the void
transaction function would be set to 5.
This would then allow Server 1 to perform a void transaction, but
another server who has been set to lower than 5 would not be allowed.
If the server is of a lower authority than the function, the message not
authorised will appear on the screen. The manager can then intervene in
the transaction and perform the function.
This will give you added security and control over who is allowed to
perform particular function keys.
The drawer to be opened by this server is the next field to enter.
Drawer 1 or Drawer 2 can be set or you can set no drawer to open.
And then finally a 3 digit password has to be entered .
Every function key can be set to have password control. This would
mean that if void transaction was set to password control, then the
