These pre-sets can then be assigned different Servers. For example on
day 1 Server 1 may be Susan, but on day 2 you may want server 1 to be
Jane.
This would allow for an establishment to have a large number of servers
programmed into the machine, but assign different Servers to the
server keys on different days.
The procedure to assign these servers is done through the normal
trading screen, you don’t have to go into the programming area.
If you want more than 10 Server keys on your keyboard then you would
allocate a key called a macro, this will be covered in the next section.
The next key type is payment. There are up to 16 payment types that
you can then program to your own requirements. Again this will be
covered later.
List is the next choice of key type, here you enter the list number
between 1 and 99.
As the server presses this key, the list will appear.
And the final selection is macro, now you are probably familiar with auto
keys well the macro is the same thing. The macro brings much more
flexibility to the machine the most common macro keys would be set as
500 cash this would be a £5 fast cash key for the Server.
That ends the explanation for the 850 and 880 keyboards.
We will now look at the UP5700 keyboard.
The UP5700 is a colour touch screen and the keyboards are referred to
as screens.
There can be up to 99 screens on a machine or system.
The key types remain the same as the 850 and  the 880.
You can select a screen number between 1 and 99.
14
Once this is selected your screen will display a sub menu with 5
choices, these are:-
Function keys logged off.
There are 12 positions and here you would normally assigned the
server keys.
Then you have Function keys trading.
There are 5 layers of these keys giving you a total of 60 positions. This
is where you would normally assign any of the function keys such as
void or split or refund and so on.
Then you have function keys payment.
Again there are 12 position and would normally assign payment keys
such as cash or credit or macro’s for fast tendering and so on.
The next selection is Top level trading keys.
Here you would normally assign list keys or pre-set products. There are
5 layers of these keys, each with 30 positions, giving you access to 150
key positions.
The final choice from the menu is Fixed areas, These refer to other
areas on the screen other than keytops. for example the date and time
box or the multiplier key.
You would need to refer to your manual for a complete listing of these
areas, but they are normally left alone.
Once you have selected the area of keys you want to set up, the screen
will change ready for you selections.
For an example we will select number 4, which is top level trading keys.
For this area you would normally assign list keys or presets but any key
can be assigned.

You will see that there are 5 pages of these keys, this means that when
the server enters into trading, 30 keys will be available and the server
can then press next or previous screen to view a total of 5 screens.
15
There is a message at the bottom of the screen which says F5 to edit
default page attributes and plus or minus for next or previous page.

The default colour selection box is highlighted, if you press F5 a sub
menu will appear, with the full selection of colours you can use to set up
the various keys. This is useful if there are a few keys that are to be set
the same colour, as it may be quicker to set the default colour for the
whole page here rather than selecting individual keys.
The size of the key text can also be set. There are 2 sizes 1 or 2.
If using size 2 you should have a large key. The setting here would be
the default for the whole page, but can then be overwritten for individual
keys later.
To assign the individual keys you would press C for change and a sub
menu will appear at the bottom of your screen.
Pressing the space bar or entering the numeric value will change the
key type.
You are then asked for the value of that type. For example if you want to
assign list 1 to this key select list for type then number 1 for the value.
The type will change by pressing the space bar, these are the same as
we mentioned earlier.
The text to be entered can be up to 3 lines per key and 7 characters per
line. The text entered will be automatically centred on the key top.
The next selection is the key top colour here you can select the
foreground and background colours for each individual key.
Then finally for the UP5700 keyboard you can select the size of the text
for each individual key top.
Although we have looked at the procedures for setting up the keys on
the top level trading area, These procedures are the same for all of the
other area’s and indeed they are very similar to the list programming.

This ends the explanation for the keyboard file.
Again to end this section press the end key until the sub menu appears.
You can then look at the next area which is keyboard macro, or screen
Macro’s on the UP5700.
There is a set of macro’s for each keyboard, therefore there can be up
to nine for the 850 or 880 and up to 99 for the UP5700.
Select the keyboard number or screen number you want to assign the
macro to.
You will notice, there is an example at the top of the screen within
brackets, this is to let you know that the function or list keys etc. have to
be separated by a comma when they are entered.
For example to set up a £10 fast cash tender key which would consist
of subtotal 1000 cash, you would enter F5 comma 1000 comma F18.
Any key that can be pressed on the keyboard can be part of a macro.
This makes the macro’s very flexible.
After pressing end to complete the macro key programming area we
should be back at the sub menu.
We will now select pre-set products.
There are a 99 pre-sets for each keyboard or screen.
The pre-set number can be between 0 and 98 then you assign a
product code to the pre-set. When you assign the product code the text
of the product will be displayed, this will confirm you have made the right
choice.
You could then allocate this pre-set to the keyboard.
If 99 pre-sets is not enough then you can set up extra macro keys that
appear as presets to the Server.
The list file is the next choice from the programming menu.
The lists vary on the touch screen EPoS and the 850 pad type
