55. Zero Sub-Total Receipt Handling
When a Zero Sub-Total occurs, some operations require a Receipt and some not. This feature
allows a Zero Sub-Total to be handled with or without a receipt.
Programming
To realise this function a new setting has been added to S2001.INI :-

Setting this to “1” will stop receipts issueing on Zero Sub-total
transactions. Setting it to “0” or leaving in the “#” will print a
receipt.

56. PLU Countdown
A new feature has been added to Venta PLU Countdown. This will allow simple centralised
stock management to be carried out on the POS terminal. Features such as Simple Theatre /
Cinema Booking and the 86 Function can now be realised. The functionality will allow

To realise this function two changes have been made. The introduction of a new function
(Function 83 – Stock Display), this allows maintenance of the Stock in Trading, a function
used more with the “86 Function”.
The main change has been the introduction of STOCK.TXT in the data folder. This file
manages the stock set-up and attributes for the system, and is setup prior to operation.

The Type, a text string, allows a degree of flexibility in processing. The following letters may
appear in the string:
R
(reversible)
the item can be returned for resale (e.g. a theatre ticket)
I
(irreversible) the item will be consumed, and cannot therefore be returned
Either R or I must be specified.

Examples
A sample STOCK.TXT for use in a seat booking system may be :-
Seats can be booked for Adults or Children but there are only a fixed number of seats that can
be allocated between Adults & Children.
PLU 1000 is an Adult Seat and PLU 1200 is a Child seat for Performance 1
and
PLU 1400 is an Adult Seat and PLU 1500 is a Child seat for Performance 2.

From the set-up above PLU’s between 1000 & 1300 are assigned to Stock Group 10 when
any PLU in this range is sold the stock in Group 10 will be reduced by 1. The same applies to
PLU’s 1400 to 1500 which are assigned to Stock Group 20. The attributes to stock Group 10
show a description of a “Thursday 6pm Seat” that has a Reversible Stock, a starting Stock of
120 and this stock will be reset on Day 5 (Thursday at End of Day). This will allow stock to
be managed for up to 7 days.
A sample STOCK.TXT for the 86 Function may be :-
Stock may be allocated to Individual items that could have limited stock (i.e Specials)
PLU 170 is House Special Steak and only 20 are available.

From the set-up above PLU 170 (House Special Steak) is set to Stock Group 1 when this
PLU is sold the stock will be reduced by 1. The attributes to Stock Group 1 are the
description is “Special 1” with Non-Reversible Stock. A starting stock of 20 will be applied
and this will be reset Manually. The same applies to PLU 180 which is set to Stock Group 2
but its starting stock is 32

Operation
In operation if an item is sold that is assigned to a stock group the following screen will
appear :-
SELECT STOCK FUNCTION
Sell Item
Check Stock
Reserve Item
Cancel Reservation
Sell from Reservation
No Action
Sell Item
Selecting this will sell the item and reduce the stock by 1
Check Stock
This will Check the Available Stock and display the current
status
Reserve Item
This will Reserve the item for sale later, and produce a
Reservation Voucher. Sales Stock is reduced by 1 and Reserved
Stock will increase by 1.
Cancel Reservation
This will cancel the reservation, and produce a Reservation
Cancellation Voucher. Reservation Stock will reduce by 1, and
Sales Stock will be increased by 1.
Sell From Reservation
This will allow the sale of an item previously reserved.
Reservation Stock is reduced by 1, Sales Stock is left unchanged.
No Action
This will cancel the action and return the machine to Trading
