MX-M1100  ADJUSTMENTS  6 – 49
NOTE:
If the SIT chart is not available, execute Sim. 63-5 to set the
CCD gamma to the default. In this case, however, the adjustment
accuracy is lower when compared with the adjustment method
using the SIT chart.

10-B
CCD gamma adjustment (CCD calibration)
 (DSPF mode)
This adjustment is needed in the following situations:
* The CCD unit has been replaced.
* U2 trouble has occurred.
* The scanner control PWB has been replaced.
* The EEPROM on the scanner control PWB has been replaced.
 (1) Note before adjustment
Check to insure that there is no dirt or dust on the SPF scanning
glass, the mirror, and the lens surface.
(If there is, clean it with alcohol.)
 (2) Adjustment procedures
1)
Set the SIT chart (UKOG-0280FCZZ or UKOG-0280FCZ1)
face-down in the DSPF paper feed tray.
Set the chart so that the low density area of the SIT chart is on
the left side.
2)
Enter the Sim. 63-03 modem and press [DSPF] button to
select the DSPF mode.
3)
Press [EXECUTE] key.
The automatic adjustment is started. During the adjustment,
[EXECUTE] key is highlighted.
After completion of the adjustment, [EXECUTE] key returns to
the normal display.
When [EXECUTE] key is pressed during the automatic adjust-
ment, the operation is terminated.
When the operation is normally completed, "SCANNER
COLOR BALANCE AUTO ADJUSTMENT COMPLETE" is dis-
played. When [RESULT] key is pressed under this state, the
screen returns to the initial menu and the adjustment result
data are displayed. By pressing the color select button, the
adjustment result data for each color can be selected and dis-
played.
When an error occurs during the automatic adjustment, all the
numbers corresponding to the SIT chart patch where the error
occurs are displayed.

MX-M1100  ADJUSTMENTS  6 – 50
If the SIT chart is not available, execute Sim. 63-5. By this
operation, the CCD gamma is set as the default. In this case,
however, the adjustment accuracy is lower than that in the
adjustment with the SIT chart.

10-C
Color image monochrome conversion
adjustment
This adjustment is used when the monochrome reproduction of
Yellow and Red included in a color document must be adjusted.
In addition, this adjustment result is reflected to all the scan images
including the copy mode.
1)
Enter the Sim. 46-37 mode.
2)
Use the scroll button to select "A" to adjust
reproduction of Yellow, and "B" to adjust reproduction of Red.
3)
Change the adjustment value and press [EXECUTE] button.
4)
The menu display requests you to answer whether you will
change the adjustment value or not. If you will change the
adjustment value, press [YES]. If not, press [NO].
When [DEFAULT] button is pressed, the adjustment value
returns to the default value.
5)
Use the color test chart (UKOG-0317FCZZ or UKOG-0317FC
11) for servicing to make a copy, and check to confirm the
reproduction result of Yellow and Red images.

Shading adjustment (Calibration)
(DSPF mode)
This adjustment is needed in the following situations:
* The DSPF unit has been replaced.
* The DSPF unit has been disassembled.
* The DSPF CCD unit has been replaced.
* U2 trouble has occurred.
* The scanner control PWB has been replaced.
* The EEPROM on the scanner control PWB has been replaced.
1)
Open the DSPF unit paper guide, insert the shading adjust-
ment sheet (PSHEP5859FCZZ), and close the paper guide.
* Set the shading adjustment sheet so that the notch of the
shading adjustment sheet is in contact with the transport fol-
lower roller position at the center.
2)
Enter the Sim. 63-2 mode.
3)
Press [DSPF SHADING] button to select the DSPF SHADING
mode.
4)
Press [EXECUTE] button.
[EXECUTE] button is highlighted, and the shading adjustment
sheet is transported by about 35mm to perform the shading
adjustment operation.
During execution the shading adjustment operation, "SHAD-
ING EXECUTING..." is displayed.
When [EXECUTE] button is pressed during execution the
shading adjustment operation, the operation is terminated.
When the shading adjustment operation is normally com-
pleted, [EXECUTE] button returns to the normal display and

Copy image quality adjustment
(1) Precautions before the copy image quality adjustment
Necessary requirements for execution of the copy image quality adjustment
Before execution of the copy image quality adjustment, the following items on the copy density and the gradation must be adjusted properly.
In normal cases, however, there is no need to frequently adjust them. When a trouble occurs, check and adjust according to necessity.
(Relationship between the servicing procedures and the copy image quality adjustment)
Note that the procedures before and after the copy density and gra-
dation adjustment differ depending on the machine status and the
servicing procedures.
Follow the copy density and gradation adjustment procedures to
perform the proper procedures according to the status.
The following four cases require density and gradation adjust-
ments.
* When installing the machine.
* When the periodic maintenance is performed.
* When a repair, an inspection, or a maintenance is
performed. (When a consumable part is replaced.)
* When a repair, an inspection, or a maintenance is
performed. (Without replacement of a consumable part)
