THE
MOTHERBOARD
1.
If you are installing a new motherboard, install the DIMM(s) and CPU from the old
motherboard onto the new motherboard. For DIMM(s), see page 17; for the CPU,
see page 31.

see page 31.
Place the motherboard on an antistatic surface with some padding.
Do not transfer the BIOS chip from the old motherboard onto the new motherboard.
Doing so can cause the system to shut down due to incompatibility issues.

2.
Angle the motherboard so that the connectors on the motherboard fit into the cutouts in
the connector panel of the chassis pan, and gently slide the motherboard into the pan
(see Figure M on page 20).

4.
Insert the five motherboard mounting screws that attach the motherboard to the pan.
Partially tighten each screw before completing tightening any one screw. Do not
overtighten the screws; doing so could damage traces on the motherboard.

5.
Replace the following cables attached to the motherboard:
• Service board cable (J2)
• 20-pin power cable
• 4-pin power cable
• HDD data cable (SATA1)
• Grounding wire for HDD data cable
Attach the grounding wire to a grounding point in the chassis, such as a metal screw.
• Exhaust fan cable (FAN3)
For the locations of each connector on the motherboard, see Figure G on page 11.
6.
Replace the interface board to connector PCI1 on the motherboard (see page 16).
7.
Reassemble the Fiery X3eTY2 and verify functionality (see page 42).

CPU cooling assembly
The CPU cooling assembly dissipates heat generated by the CPU. There are two different
types of cooling assemblies that may be installed in the Fiery X3eTY2. To determine the
cooling assembly type used in your system, refer to Figure O.
