4-3-5. Test display
(1) Hard disk test menu
Select an test item with [
2 ] and [ 4 ] keys on the above menu and press
[ENTER] key to start the test. When [ESC] key is pressed, the display
returns to the initial menu. 
(2) Drive status display execution display
The standard value of the hard disk is displayed. 
When any key is pressed, the test is terminated and the display returns
to the menu display of the previous (1).
(3) Sequential seek test execution display
Select an item in each position indicated with "
"
(In the above display, the item surrounded by a 
 is selected and the
value surrounded by a 
 is selected.)
When, in the above display, "Pass count" is counted up (when the test
point is counted from 000 to the final LBA, Pass count is counted up by
1) and all the error counters of all the error kinds are not counted up
(remaining at 00000), the test is OK.
During execution of the test, when [SPACE] key is pressed, the test is
interrupted. 
During interruption of the test, when [SPACE] key is pressed, the test is
resumed. 
During execution or interruption of the test, when [ESC] key is pressed,
the display returns to the menu of (1).
(4) Seek & read test execution display
Select an item in each position indicated with "
"
(In the above display, the item surrounded by a 
 is selected and the
value surrounded by a 
 is selected.)
When, in the above display, "Pass count" is counted up (when the test
point is counted from 000 to the final LBA, Pass count is counted up by

same as those of the above (3).

(6) Target sector read test execution display

counters of all the error kinds are not counted up (remaining at 00000),
the test is OK.
The procedures to interrupt, resume, and terminate the test are the

(7) HD dump test execution display
Select an item in each position indicated with "

(In the above display, the item surrounded by a 
 is selected and the
value surrounded by a 
 is selected.)
The above display shows the contents of former 256 byte in the position
of 000 LBA sector. Press [PGDN] key to display the latter 256 byte. 
(When [PGDN] key is pressed on the above menu, the latter half of 256
byte in the position of 000 LBA sector is displayed.) Press PGDN key to
display the former 256 byte. 
When [ESC] key is pressed, the display returns to the menu display of
the previous (1).
(8) Disk controller check test execution display
When the pass count is counted up and "OK!" is displayed at stop, the
test is OK. (Note that it takes several seconds for 1 pass.)
When [SPACE] key is pressed during the test, the test is interrupted. 
When [SPACE] key is pressed during interruption of the test, the test is
resumed.
When [ESC] key is pressed during execution or interruption of the test,
the test is terminated and the display returns to the menu display.
(9) Smart ON/OFF execution display
The status of the smart function is displayed in the position of "*"
Press [ENTER] key to turn ON/OFF the smart function. When [ESC]
key is pressed, the display returns to the menu display of the above (1).
Refer to HDD SMART.DOC.
(10) SMART value screen
SMART values stored in HDD are displayed.
Legends
With the above screen displayed, select YES using the cursor keys and
then press ENTER to save the values displayed in the file.
You can exit the program without saving the values, by selecting NO
and then pressing ENTER or ESC.

(11) Display before execution of write mode test
Before execution of the write mode test
The caution message is displayed: [When executed, Data on hard disk will be
destroyed.]
When "184184" is entered with the keys, the parameter input menu is displayed.
(12) Seek & write/read-verify test execution display
Similar to the test (5) above. However, the following content differs. 
Test mode: 
 is displayed.
(13) Write/read-verify test execution display
Similar to the test (11) above. 
(14) Target sector write/read-verify test execution display
Similar to the test (6) above. However, the following content differs.
Test mode:

(15) HD patch test execution display
Similar to the test (7) above. However, data in the HDD can be patched. 
Data patch is made as follows:
Data in the HDD are changed on the display to patch.
(Shift the cursor to the item to be changed with [
2 ], [ 4 ], [3], [1] keys,
and enter data with [0] ~ [F] keys.)
Then press [ENTER] key, and select "Yes" in "Update? (Yes No)" and
press [ENTER] key. (Shift the cursor with [
1] key.) By this procedure,
patch is executed.
4-3-6. Error contents
The following error contents are obtained directly from the HDD controller.

4-4. 106 KEYBOARD
4-4-1. Outline
This test is used to check whether the full keyboard I/F section functions
normally or not. This test checks contact state of the signal pins and key
controller troubles. 
4-4-2. Required Tools to be used
4-4-3. Test item
The following item is checked with this test. 
4-4-4. Test contents
(1) 106 keyboard check
Use 106 keyboard to execute 106 keyboard I/F test. This test checks
contact state of the signal pins in the connector section. The layout of
106 keyboard is displayed on the display. When a key is pressed by the
operator, the key position is indicated with 
 mark on the display. The
operator must check that the pressed key position and the indicated
position on the display are the same.
However, the following keys cannot be checked. 
[PAUSE] [Print Screen]
4-4-5. Test menu
(1) 106 keyboard test menu display
On the above display, use [
2 ] and [ 4 ] keys to select a test item. When
[ENTER] key is pressed, the test is executed. When [ESC] key is
pressed, the display returns to the initial menu. 
(2) 106 keyboard check execution display
The layout of 106 keyboard is displayed.
When any key of 106 keyboard is pressed, the code of the pressed key
is displayed.
KEY CODE: The key code value is displayed in HEX.

When [ESC] key of 106 keyboard is pressed twice continuously, the dis-
play returns to the menu of the test (1) above. 
4-4-6. Error contents
(1) 106 keyboard check
• Parity error
(This error occurs when the serial data from the keyboard is of even parity.)
• Key recognizer error
(This error occurs when the entered key code cannot be recognized.)
4-5. VGA I/F & LCD
4-5-1. General
This test is used to check whether the VGA I/F section and the LCD
panel function normally or not. Selection of aging/error stop/1 pass can
be made. The test execution time is also displayed. 
*Since the VGA test is executed for all display area, when the VGA test
item is selected, the display mode is switched to the all display mode. 
4-5-2. Required Tools to be used

4-5-3. Test item
The purposes of this test are as follows:

(1) Test pattern display test
The LCD display test is executed in the following sequence:
(2) LCD backlight ON/OFF test
This test is used to check ON/OFF of the LCD backlight.
The test procedures are as follows:
(3) LCD attribute test
This test is used to check 18-color display and 8-color reverse and
blinking display. 
(4) VRAM test
This test is used to execute the VRAM (1MB) memory verify test. 
(5) LCD brightness test
(6) Error table
The errors occurred in the previous tests (1) ~ (5) are displayed for each
test item. 
4-5-5. Test menu
(1) VGA I/F & LCD test menu
On the above display, use [
2 ] and [ 4 ] keys to select a test item. When
[ENTER] key is pressed, the test is executed. When [ESC] key is
pressed, the display returns to the initial menu. 
(2) Test pattern display test execution display
Refer to 5-5-4. (1).
(3) LCD backlight ON/OFF execution display
ON/OFF of the backlight is repeated in a certain frequency. 
When [SPACE] key is pressed during this test, the test is interrupted. 
When [SPACE] key is pressed during interruption, the test is resumed. 
When [ESC] key is pressed, the test is terminated and the display
returns to the initial menu.
