In order to minimise the amount of cash being held in the cash drawer, it is now 
possible track the amount of cash in the drawer(s) and warn the user when it 
exceeds a configurable limit. The warning consists of 4 beeps after each 
transaction and an illuminated indicator. 

 
This continues until one of 

  Close session 

  A ‘Paid out’ operation brings the cash in drawer below the limit 

  A ‘To Bank’ operation brings the cash in drawer below the limit 

  Another operation where cash is taken out (change in cash, cashback) 

 

The cash in drawer amount is determined by: 

  Float 

  Payments taken 

  Change given 

  Paid in and out operations  

  To Bank operations 

  Cashback (external eft) 

If there are 2 drawers they are treated as one, i.e. there is a single limit, and this 
is compared to the amount in the two drawers added together.

The payment methods that contribute to the ‘cash in drawer’ value are 

configured in VPM – configure – Payment Methods – ‘Include in cash limit’ (check 
box). Payment Method 1 (cash) will always have this set. 
 

The configurable limit in £’s is set in VPM- Configure - Till Configuration – 
General – Cash Limit.

To extend the time that the warning message is displayed on the screen the 

following line can be added to the c:\Vpro\data\tillxxx\S2001.ini file. 
 
CASHLIMITWARNDELAY=10000

 

 

This setting is the amount of time in milli seconds 
(10000=10secs) 

(5000=5secs) 
 
The ‘Cash Limit Warning’ text that shows on screen can be changed within VPM 
– Configure – Miscellaneous – text schemes – (Cash Limit Warning)

Once the preconfigured ‘cash limit’ has been reached the above warning 
message including 4 audible beeps and red indicator will be shown. If the 
indicator at the bottom of the screen is pressed then the amount of cash in the 
drawer is shown on the screen. 

 
 
There are various ways to take cash from the drawer and stop the warnings from 

being displayed. 
 

1.  Within trading Function 72 ‘Bank’ can be used.  The banked feature will 

print a receipt showing the date/time, server and amount that has been 
banked.  The banked information is also shown in the drawer breakdown 
section of the Close session and House cash reports. 
 

2.  Within the Sharp POS Main Menu a Paid out entry can be used.  The ‘Paid 

Out’ information is also shown in the drawer breakdown section of the 
Close session and House cash reports.
