SECTION 2 DISASSEMBLY PROCEDURES
Important notice on optical block replacement
LCD panels used for this model cannot be replaced separately. Do not disassemble the optical block. These LCD panels are
installed with precision at the factory. When replacing the LCD panel, should be replaced whole of the LCD panels and prism
assy at once.
When replacing optical block, take the optical and electrical adjustments following to the chapter "Adjustment".
3.2.1. Optical block removal
1. Remove 4 screws-B (M3x10) to remove the projection lens and optical block.

Note: The lighting block should be removed from the cabinet bottom before remov-
ing the projection lens.
1. Remove 4 screws-A (M2.5x8) to remove the projection lens and optical block
assy from the lighting block

Note on handling of inorganic polarizer
This projector provides high durable inorganic polarizer which has a rib shaped evaporated aluminum on the glass surface.
This surface is very delicate. If touching or wiping the surface, the polarizing function will be lost due to damage of the
aluminium rib construction on the surface. Extreme care should be taken to handle the polarizer.

Inorganic polarizer handling
Never grasp the surface or edges of the polarizer with bare hand. If fat and oil on your hand adheres on the edges
of polarizer, the linear bolt may appear on the glass surface due to capillarity. Grasp the edges of the glass with
new gloves or with tweezers when handling it.

Inorganic polarizer cleaning
When removing the dust on the surface, use a commercial (inert gas) air spray or air blower to remove them. Never
use organic solvents.

Indication of light in-coming side and out-
going side
The indication of "in-coming side" and "out-going side" of
the polarizers or LCD panels is shown in the figure. It in-
dicates the light in-coming and out-going from the lamp.
Contact prohibition area of inorganic po-
larizer
The aluminum evaporated surface of inorganic polarizer
is contact prohibition area. Prohibit touching it with bare
hand, wiping or contacting with the other parts.

4. Mount a new polarizer onto the correct position carefully.
<Note> While mounting, Do not touch or scratch the contact
prohibition area on the surface of in-cominig side of
polarizer.
3.3. Polarizer-out replacement
Before replacing the polarizer, refer to "Note on handling
of inorganic polarizer".
1. Remove each polarizer. As the polarizers are attached
with adhesive tape, remove them carefully.
<Note> When replacing, pay attention not to scratch or break
the surrounding parts (Prism , LCD panel, etc.). As
the part of LCD panels are adjusted preciously at the
factory, handle the optical block not to apply any power
force on it. We recommend that the projection lens
should be mounted on the optical block while taking
the replacement.

2. Cleanly remove the fragment of old adhesive tape on the
optical block.
3. Attache 2 adhesive tapes on the surface of out-going side
of a new polarizer as shown in the figure.
<Note> The adhesive tapes should be attached within 2.0mm
from the edge. After attaching, remove the protection
sheet on it.

Flat screw driver
• Insert the edge of flat screw driver into the adhesive part of
the polarizer and remove it bit by bit by turning the driver.
(See below figure)

• Insert the polarizer into the optical block from the side as
shown in the figure and place it along the mounting posi-
tion guides (left) and guides (top).
• After placing, press the both of the side edges gently to
fix the polarizer. Confirm that the polarizer is mounted in
parallel with the surface of panel and prism.
5. Replace remaining polarizer-out (B) and (R) with the
same procedure.
6. After completing the mounting, project the cross-hatch
pattern to check that there is no miss-convergence on the
screen.

3.4. Polarizer-in assy removal
1. Remove each 1 screw(M2.5x6) on the polarizer holder and pull the polarizer-out
upward carefully.
