U14 (Conveyor Jam3:
Paper did not reach the 
Jam Sensor.)

    Starting Sensor and Jam Sensor.
Remove the document from the scanner.
2. Paper dust exists on or around
    the Jam Sensor.
1. Clean up the dirt with cleaning paper or 
 cotton swab or soft and dry cloth. 
(See Sec. 9.)
2. Execute “Key/Sensor” tests in Sec. 10.3.7. 
and “Sensor sensitive level”  in Sec. 
10.3.8. to check the Jam Sensor condition.
3. Jam Sensor does not work,  
correctly
1. Execute “Key/Sensor” test in the Sec. 
10.3.7. to check the sensor condition.
2. Check the mounting of the lens of the Jam 
Sensor.
3. Check the following connection and 
soldering condition on each connector. 
    CN5190 (JAM SENSOR Board) to 
    CN20 (CONTROL Board) 
4. Check the following signals.
a. Jam Sensor signal CN20-7th pin:   
    Approx. 5 V (no paper on the sensor) 
b. Check the reference signal for the Jam 
    Sensor signal on the CONTROL Board.
    IC42-5th pin: Approx. 2.5 V
c. Check comparator output signal.
    IC42-7th pin: 5 V (no paper on the sensor)
5. Replace faulty parts or cables.
4. Mechanical problem (Drive
    Rollers, Drive Belt, Conveyor)
1. Check the arrangement and on/off status of 
the Jam Sensor.
2. Execute “Conveyor motor” test in Sec. 
10.3.7. to check the mechanical condition. 
3. Check whether the Drive Rollers (2 to 4), 
Drive Belt, and the conveyor to support the 
Drive Rollers  (2 to 4) are put together into 
the scanner, properly.
4. Check the surfaces of the Drive Rollers 
 (2 to 4).
a. If it is deformed
    
 Replace the roller.
b. If the surface is dirty
    
 Clean the surface.
5. Check whether the Drive Belt tension is 
proper.
 Re-adjust the belt tension.
U15 (Conveyor Jam4: 
Paper did not reach the 
Exit Sensor.
