Notes after mode completion:
Note 1: After work is completed, uninstall the service mode tool abso-
lutely.
 
  (Refer to “3. UNINSTALLING METHOD OF THE SERVICE 
MODE TOOL” on page 23 about procedure)
Note 2: When this unit connects with some site in order to perform the 
operation check (When the connection with WiFi and the opera-
tion check of browser, etc. are performed etc.), the WiFi setting 
list and the history of browser, etc. remain on this unit.
 
    In that case, perform reset and initialization with reference to 
page 4.
 
    (When initialization is performed, all user informations are 
cleared)
4-3. BATTERY
The learning cycle value of built-in rechargeable battery held to 
the NVP domain of the MAIN board can be rewritten.
Execution condition:
When the BATTERY ASSY (BAT1) is replaced, perform this 
mode absolutely.
Note: When you assemble or disassemble the BATTERY ASSY 
(BAT1), do work not to make it short-circuit absolutely.
Preparation:
• 
Replace the BATTERY ASSY (BAT1) to new part with refer-
ence to “2. DISASSEMBLY” (page 13 to 20).
Note 1: Change this unit into the state before assembling SV CASE ASSY 
(the state where the battery is showing).

• 
Install the service mode tool in “WALKMAN” with reference 
to “2. INSTALLING METHOD OF THE SERVICE MODE 
TOOL” (page 21).
Note 2: “ServiceModeTool” is used in this mode.
Procedure:
1.  Start “ServiceModeTool” by tap the “ServiceModeTool” icon.
 
(The display position in the following fi gure is an example)

2. Tap 
“BATTERY”.

3. Confi rm that the following screen is displayed, and tap the 
[RESET] button.

4. Confi rm that the “Reset success!” is displayed on the center of 
screen.

] button on “WALKMAN”, and confi rm  that 
screen on “WALKMAN” is turned off (sleep mode state).

  When screen on “WALKMAN” is turned Power off screen, tap

6.  Remove the solder of three lead wires, and remove the lead 
wires from the board. Next, solder the three lead wires to the 
board, and confi rm that power supply of “WALKMAN” is 
turned off..

7.  Hold down the [
1
] button on “WALKMAN”, and confi rm that 
“WALKMAN” boots up normally.

8.  Connect PC and “WALKMAN” with the USB cable for the 
WM-PORT (accessory).

Plug in the USB cable 
with        facing upward, 
making sure the
connection is secure.
9. Confi rm that the USB connection screen is displayed on 
“WALKMAN”, and confi rm that charge is performed normal-
ly.
Note 2: If the USB connection screen is not displayed, swipe the status bar 
on the top of the screen then tap “USB connected” on the notifi ca-
tion panel.

Before turning off USB storage, unmount
(”ejecte”) your Android’s USB storage from
your computer.

10. Assemble “WALKMAN” completely, and the confi rming  is 
completed.
