CD  FACTORY  MODE
BD can be operated by manually-operating RF gain etc..
Note 1:  Do not enter the this mode while any other test mode is in prog-
ress.
Note 2:  Do not enter any other test mode while the this mode is in prog-
ress.
Procedure:
1.  Press the [
?/1
] button to turn the power on.
2.  Press the [CD/USB] button to select CD function.
3.  Press three buttons of [x], [USB MENU] and [DISC 2] simul-
taneously.
4.  It enters the CD factory mode and the message “FACTORY” 
is displayed. When the [USB MENU] button is pressed, the 
following message (initial display) is displayed.

Focus S curve mode setting
  
Tracking servo setting
 
  
  RF gain setting
Key Operation:
[USB MENU]:
The display changes in the following order whenever the button 
is pressed.
(Initial display)
FCSAG ** (**: Focus AGC value)
TRKAG ** (**: Track AGC value)
RF_AG ** (**: RF AGC value)
[CD/USB]:
RF gain setting changes whenever the button is pressed.
“–”: No gain fi xation.
“AL”: Fix to the gain for AL disc.
“RW”: Fix to the gain for RW disc.
[ENTER]:
Forcus S curve mode setting changes whenever the button is 
pressed.
“  ”: Forcus S curve mode OFF.
“S”: Forcus S curve mode ON.
Releasing method:
Press three buttons of [x], [USB MENU] and [DISC 2] simultane-
ously.
CD  SERVO  TEST  MODE
The operation of BD (servo system) can be checked.
Note 1:  Do not enter the this mode while any other test mode is in prog-
ress.
Note 2:  Do not enter any other test mode while the this mode is in prog-
ress.
Procedure:
1.  Press the [
?/1
] button to turn the power on.
2.  Press the [CD/USB] button to select CD function.
3.  Press three buttons of [
x
], [USB MENU] and [DISC 3] simul-
taneously.
4.  The message “@@ XXXX” is displayed on the fl uorescent in-
dicator tube, and enter the CD servo test mode.

AGING  MODE
For the aging mode, three modes of all mode, disc table mode, and loading mode are available.
This set has the aging mode for operation check of the mechanism deck.
•  If a failure occurred
  The aging operation stops and a faulty status is displayed on the fl uorescent indicator tube.
•  If no failure occurs
  The aging operation continues repeatedly.
Note: Do not use the test disc when performing aging.
 
  Aging will not be performed properly if discs with tracks shorter than 4 seconds are used.
Procedure:
1.  Press the [
?/1
] button to turn the power on.
2.  Set discs on all trays.
 
(More than two discs if fi ve are not available)
3.  All mode:
 
Press three buttons of [x], [ENTER] and [DISC 1] simultaneously.
 
Disc table mode:
 
Press three buttons of [x], [ENTER] and [DISC 2] simultaneously.
 
Loading mode:
 
Press three buttons of [x], [ENTER] and [DISC 3] simultaneously.
4.  Aging starts, and the fl uorescent indicator tube will display the following.

The discs are selected in the order of DISC1 →DISC2 → DISC3 → DISC4 → DISC5 → DISC1 → .... Empty trays are skipped.
But the order is random in the disc table mode.

ELECTRICAL  CHECK
Note:
1.  CD Block is basically constructed to operate without adjustment.
2.  Use YEDS-18 disc (Part No. 3-702-101-01) unless otherwise indicat-
ed.
3.  Use an oscilloscope with more than 10 M
Ω impedance.
4.  Clean the object lens by an applicator with neutral detergent when the 
signal level is low than specifi ed value with the following checks.
5.  Check the focus bias check when optical pick-up block is replaced.

Procedure:
1.  Connect the oscilloscope to CL102 (RFOUT) and CL117 
(VREF) on the BD75 board.
2.  Press the [

] button to turn the power on, and select CD 
function.
3.  Set disc (YEDS-18) and play it.
4. Confi rm that oscilloscope waveform is as shown in the fi gure 
below (eye pattern).
 
A good eye pattern means that the diamond shape (
◊) in the 
center of the waveform can be clearly distinguished.
VOLT/DIV: 200 mV 
TIME/DIV: 500 ns
level:
1.1 ± 0.4 Vp-p

MECHANISM  DECK  CHECK  MODE
For the mechanism deck check mode, two modes of disc table 
mode and loading mode are available.
In the mechanism deck check mode, the disc table turning time 
and the loading time in each section are measured and displayed.
Procedure:
Disc table mode:
Press three buttons of [x], [ENTER] and [DISC 4] simultaneously.
Loading mode:
Press three buttons of [x], [ENTER] and [DISC 5] simultaneously.
