2 - 4. COMMUNICATION PORT
CHANGE PROCEDURE
 GENERAL
Use of USB-serial conversion cable etc. may assign 
communication port to COM10 or more. Since a port number has
restriction depending on a service tool, it is necessary to change the
assigned port number. The modification procedure of a port number is
as follow. 
Although the procedure explained here is a thing in the case of using
the USB-Serial conversion cable (Buffalo (old Arvel), USB serial cable
(SRC06USB) and a setting item may be different depending on environ-
ment, set a procedure as reference. 
 SETTING PROCEDURE (Windows xp)
1 ) Select “file name is specified and performed" from "start" menu.  
 
2 ) Input “devmgmt.mscÅhÅB
3 ) Press [OK] and device manager is started and "a port (COM and
LPT)" is displayed. 
4 ) By the COM port currently used, it right-clicks and a "property" is
chosen, on the property screen of COMxx, a "setting of port" tab is
chosen and a "detailed setting" button is pushed 
5 ) COM number is chosen by  "COM port number." 
(COM6 is chosen in the example of a screen)
CAUTION
  Choose the COM number which is not displayed in "Port (COM and 
   LPT)" of the device manager. Although COM to choose may have   
   become "in use", selection is possible when not displayed in "a port 
   (COM and LPT)." 
6 ) Choose "yes", when the following dialog is displayed 
        Setup of a communication port is completed above

 SETUP PROCEDURE(Windows7)
7 ) "device manager" is inputted into "search of program and file" box. 
8 ) "Device manager" is chosen from the displayed list, device man-
ager is started, and "a port (COM and LPT)" is displayed.  
9 ) By the COM port currently used, it right-clicks and a "property" is
chosen, on the property screen of communication port, a "Port Set-
tings" tab is chosen and a "Advanced" button is pushed 
10 )COM number is chosen by  "COM port number." 
(COM6 is chosen in the example of a screen)
CAUTION
 Choose the COM number which is not displayed in "Port (COM and 
   LPT)" of the device manager. Although COM to choose may have   
   become "in use", selection is possible when not displayed in "a port 
   (COM and LPT)."
 Choose "yes", when the following dialog is displayed

3. LAN FIRMWARE UPDATE PROCEDURE (RS-232C)
3 - 1. OPERATING  CONDITIONS  OF
FIRMWARE UPDATE
The operating conditions for LAN firmware update of the information
display are as follows.
The RS-232C cable required for update is as follows. Connect the COM
port of PC and the RS-232C input terminal of the display with the cable. 
 
3 - 2. PREPARATION DISPLAY
In the power off(stanby mode) mode and input signal waiting mode, 
LAN firmware cannot update. 
Be sure to update in the state where it returned from input signal waiting
mode and it turned ON the power supply. 
The firmware update should display with the remote control in the state
which can be operated. It may fail, if it carries out immediately after AC
power activation
3 - 3. FIRMWARE UPDATE
Press the [LAN Firmware] button of the Service Launcher.
1 ) Select the COM port to be used for communication and input the
transfer rate specified with the Information Display.
 (In the right illustration, [COM1: 38400bps] is selected.) …①
2 ) You are to select the firmware file “PNAX_CF_MAIN_cs.S19”, but
you don't need to make any change. …②
3 ) By pressing [START] button, firmware update start. …③
4 ) the confirmation window of version and checksum is displayed.
Confirm that the version and checksum are correct, and then press
[OK].
The writing is completed in about 3 minutes. Once “Complete!” is
displayed, the firmware update has been finished.
After writing, turn OFF and ON the main power.
 WHEN UPDATING IS FAILED
A return procedure when the power supply was turned OFF in the mid-
dle of write-in, or a cable falls out and update goes wrong is explained.
1. Turn the main power ON again
2. Please update in the same procedure as the usual writing.

3 - 4. VERSION CHECK PROCEDURES
 CHECK METHOD BY THE SERVICE MENU
With an image displayed on this machine, use the remote controller to
display SERVICE MENU1 to check the firmware version (FIRM VER-
SION (MAIN)).
To display SERVICE MENU1, press and hold [SIZE] button of the
remote controller (for 5 sec or more), and press [BRIGHT- ( 1 )], [VOL- (
4 )], [BRIGHT+ ( 3 )] and [VOL+ ( 2 )] in this sequence.
After checking the version, press [MENU] button of the remote control-
ler to close the SERVICE MENU1 display.
