USB Memory Playback
 
Note:
To pause playback:

Notes:
SHARP will not be held liable for the loss of data whilst the USB memory
device is connected to the audio system.
Files compressed in MP3 and/or WMA format can be played back when
connected to the USB terminal.
This USB memory’s format supports FAT 16 or FAT 32.
SHARP cannot guarantee that all USB memory devices will work on this
audio system.
USB cable is not recommended for use in this audio system to connect
to USB memory device. Use of the USB cable will affect the
performance of this audio system.
This USB memory cannot be operated via USB hub.
The USB terminal in this unit is not intended for a PC connection but is
used for music streaming with a USB memory device.
External HDD-storage cannot be played back via USB terminal.
If the data inside the USB memory is large, it may take longer time for the
data to be read.
This product can play WMA and MP3 files. It will automatically detect the
file type being played. If unplayable file is played on this product, “NO
SPPRT” is indicated and the file will be automatically skipped. This will
take a few seconds. If abnormal indications appear on the display due to
the unspecified file, turn off the unit and then turn it on again.
This product relates to USB memory devices and MP3 players. It may
however face some irregularities due to various unforeseen reasons from
some devices. Should this happen, turn off the unit and then turn it on
again.
The USB terminal is intended for direct connection to a USB memory
device without any cable.

Press the FOLDER button, and press the TUNING (  or  ) button
to select desired playback folder.
To start playback with folder mode on, go to step 4.
To change the playback folder, press the TUNING (  or  ) button to 
select another folder.

Select desired file to be played back by pressing the

Press the   (USB  ) button to stop playback. Then press the 
 (USB  ) button again and wait until “OK” is displayed.
     
Always remove the USB memory device after “OK” appears on the
display. Improper removal of the USB memory device may cause
irregularities such as continuous appearance of “READING FILES”.
Should this happen, turn off the unit and then turn it on again.

If USB memory device is not connected, “NO MEDIA” will be shown 
on the display.
Auto power on function:
When you press any of the following buttons, the unit turns on.
AUDIO IN/USB button on the remote control: The unit turns on
and the “USB” function is activated.
USB   /   button on the remote control: The unit turns on and
USB playback starts (regardless of the last function).
FUNCTION button on main unit: The unit turns on and the last
function is activated (CD, TUNER, USB, AUDIO IN).
 /   button on the main unit: The unit turns on and playback of
the last function starts (CD, TUNER, USB, AUDIO IN).
File Erase

At USB STOP condition, press 
 or 
  button to select the
desired MP3 or WMA file to be erased.

Press MODE button, and the display will show “ERASE” menu.

Within 10 seconds press ENTER button. “ERASE?” will be
displayed. To cancel file erase operation, press USB STOP button.

Press ENTER button again to confirm the file erase selection.
“ERASING” will be displayed.

“COMPLETE” will be displayed for a few seconds once erasing
process is finished.
Folder Erase

At USB STOP condition (Folder mode on), press TUNING

 or  ) button to select the desired folder to be erased.

Press MODE button, and the display will show “ERASE” menu.

Within 10 seconds press ENTER button. “ERASE?” will be
displayed. To cancel folder erase operation, press USB STOP
button.

Press ENTER button again to confirm the folder erase selection.
“ERASING” will be displayed.

“COMPLETE” will be displayed for a few seconds once erasing
process is finished.

This unit only supports “MPEG-1 Audio Layer-3” format.
(Sampling Frequency is 32, 44.1, 48 kHz)
Playback order for MP3 files may differ sometimes depending on
the writing software used during file download.
Bitrate which is supported by MP3 is 32~320 kbps, WMA is
64~160 kbps.
For MP3/WMA files, please put “.MP3” “.WMA” extension. Files
cannot be played back if there is no MP3/WMA extension.
Playlists are not supported on this unit.
This unit can display Folder Name or File Name up to 32
characters.
Maximum total number of MP3/WMA files is 65 280. Maximum
total number of folders is 255 inclusive of root directory.  
The display playback time may not be displayed correctly when
playing back a variable bitrate file.
Time display cannot be changed by the DISPLAY button.
The ID3TAG information supported are TITLE, ARTIST and
ALBUM only.
Title name, artist name and album name can be displayed by
pressing the DISPLAY button during file playback or pause mode.
WMA meta tag also supports title, artist and album name which
are recorded in WMA files.
Copyright protected WMA files cannot be played back.

) When folder mode is on, the selected playmode can be used for
the files in the selected folder only.

USB Memory Playback
Recording on USB memory device
This system can record a standard CD, CD-R/RW in the CD format or
CD-R/RW with MP3 files, TUNER function to the USB device.
CD to USB recording
There are four kinds of recording from CD to USB.
1. One File Recording (for CD) or One File Copy (for MP3 disc).
2. One Disc Recording (for CD) or One Disc Copy (for MP3 disc).
3. Programme Recording.
4. One Folder Copy (for MP3 disc only). 
Select the bitrate before starting recording.

Programme Recording
Press the MODE button and “BIT RATE” will be displayed and then
press ENTER button.
This bitrate selection is valid for CD, TUNER and AUDIO IN function only.

Tuner to USB recording
To stop recording:
Press the USB STOP button. The unit will stop the recording process
and “WRITING” will be displayed for a few seconds.
Notes:
Recording can be operated in CD stop mode only. During CD
playback, the RECORD button is invalid.
The sound is heard during CD disc recording but not with an MP3
disc.
Bitrate selection is valid for CD disc and TUNER recording only. It is
invalid for MP3 disc. The default bitrate recording is 128 kbps.
It is not possible to display ID3 tag information during MP3 disc
copy process.
Do not POWER OFF the main unit whilst “WRITING” shows on the
display. Wait until “WRITING” display disappear before turning it
off.
This system does not support WMA disc recording.
“USB FULL” message will be displayed if USB device is set in
write-protect mode or if there is insufficient free space in it.
USB playback order is the same as MP3/WMA playback order
(see page 18) and follow the recording order of the folder.
USB folder structure (of recorded files)
When recording files to USB memory, folders inside it will be created 
automatically according to the source selected.
Example:
If recording from CD to USB, the files will be saved in a folder named 
CDREC001. For next recording session, the next folder will be 
created and named CDREC002 and so on.
If the source is TUNER (FM band), folder FMREC001 will be created. 
Maximum number of folders that can be created is 254.

unit will stop playback and recording process automatically
and “WRITING” will be displayed for a few seconds.

To select tuner, press the TUNER (BAND) button and select
desired band station (see “Tuning” on page 25).
