ADJUSTING ITEMS WHEN REPLACING
MAIN PARTS
When replacing main parts, adjust the items indicated by z in the
following table.
   4. ADJUSTMENT AND CHECK
NOTE ON MAIN BOARD REPLACEMENT
When replacing MAIN board, be sure to write the latest firmware.
For detail, refer to “4-2-3. FIRMWARE WRITING AND VERSION
UPGRADE”.
When writing of the latest firmware and version upgrade is completed,
be sure to delete the old driver and to install the driver newly again.
NOTE ON THERMAL PRINTER (MD) AND
MAIN BOARD REPLACEMENT
When replacing the thermal printer (MD) and MAIN board, be sure
to adjust the density.
For detail, refer to Section 4-2-1.
NOTE ON LCD ADJUSTMENT AFTER
REPLACEMENT
When replacing the LCD, be sure to LCD contrast can be adjusted
and the color display can be check using the service mode as follows.
For detail, refer to Section 4-2-2.

4-1. SERVICE MODE
Note on the service mode screen:
The selected item on the screen displayed in the service mode is
framed by “yellow frame”. In this manual, the yellow frame is
referred to as “frame”.
4-1-1. STARTUP/QUITTING PROCEDURE
Note on starting the service mode:
• Do not use the mode that is not described in this manual.
• Perform the operation in each mode according to the operation
procedure in this manual.
Connection procedure:
1.
Insert one power cord plug into the AC adapter (AC-S2422)
supplied with the DPP-FP70 (hereafter, referred to as this unit)
and insert the other power cord plug into the receptacle.
2.
Insert the DC plug of the supplied AC adapter into the DC-IN
terminal of this unit.
Procedure:
1.
Press the [ON/STANDBY] button while pressing the [ENTER]
and [CANCEL] buttons simultaneously.
2.
Release all buttons when the initial screen of the service modeis
displayed.
3.
Select each mode except the USB Test mode, by using the
[ARROW] button (f,F) (framed item) and press the [ENTER]
button.
4.
Press the [CANCEL] button to return to the startup screen of
the service mode while any test mode other than the Button
Test is running.
5.
Press the [ON/STANDBY] button to quit the service mode
while any test mode other than the Button Test is running.

4-2-1. DENSITY ADJUSTMENT
The density adjustment is required after replacing the thermal printer
or the MAIN board.
Preparation:
Before replacing the thermal printer or the MAIN board, print a test
pattern (17 step) as the reference of density.
The test pattern (17 step) should be printed before replacing the
thermal printer or the MAIN board, or when this unit is in the normal
state.
Note:
If there is any printing failure in the test pattern (17 step) printed before
replacing the thermal printer or the MAIN board, do not use it.
Or in case that the test pattern (17 step) cannot be printed, use the
test pattern that is printed by using the normally-working printer
(DPP-FP70).
Adjustment:
1.
Start the service mode. (Refer to Section 4-1-1.)
2.
Confirm the value written in the label on the HEAD of a thermal
printer.
Ex.)  17.51
3.
Connect Digital voltmeter to TP230 VH and TP213 GND and
check the voltage.
4.
Adjust with RV201 VH Adj. so that the voltage value on TP230
becomes to the value confirmed in the item 2.

Adjustment part:  RV201 VH ADJ.
After adjustment, turned off the power.
Procedure:
1.
Set the ribbon and paper to this unit.
Note:
Use the ribbon and paper below.
Color print pack SVM-F40P (postcard size)
2.
Start the service mode. (Refer to Section 4-1-1.)
Initial screen where service mode was started.
Turn off LED of PRINT and ACCESS.
 (When lighting, turned off pushing the PRINT button. )
3.
Select “Print Calibrate” using the arrow buttons (f,F) and press
the [ENTER] button.

4-2. ADJUSTMENT
4.
When the following screen is displayed on the LCD of this
unit, press the [PRINT] button.
Printing of the test pattern (17 step) starts.
5.
Quit the service mode. (Refer to Section 4-1-1.)
Keep the printed output produced in step 4 as the reference.
6.
Afterwards, confirmed to execute the procedure from 1 to 5,
and to be printed  like the sample.
Confirmed that the color has not extremely adhered to a white
part, and it is lustrous to a black part, and a black part has not
thinned extremely.
7.
Start the service mode. (Refer to Section 4-1-1.)
8.
Select "Reset PrtCnt" by  pushing DIRECTION button (f,F) ,
then push the ENTER button.
The number of sheets of the print is cleared, and displayed in
the right of "ResetPrtCnt" as "OK".
9.
Quit the service mode. (Refer to Section 4-1-1.)

Procedure:
1.
Start the service mode. (Refer to Section 4-1-1.)
2.
Select “LCD Calibrate” using the arrow buttons (f,F) and press
the [ENTER] button. Then, the contrast adjustment is enabled.
3.
When the following display appears on the LCD screen, match
color of the left half screen with that of the right half screen
using the arrow buttons (g, G).  (The VCOM data should be
“03” to “3F”.)
4-2-2. LCD CONTRAST ADJUSTMENT,
COLOR DISPLAY CHECK
LCD contrast can be adjusted and the color display can be check
using the service mode as follows:

When the arrow buttons (f, F) is pressed, color display can be
confirmed in the following order:
f
F
White
Black
Gray (thick)
Gray (thin)
Blue
Green
Red
5.
When the [ENTER] button is pressed, the screen returns to the
service mode startup  screen.
Note:
The screen returns to the startup screen of the service mode
when the [CANCEL] button is pressed. However, the LCD
contrast adjustment data that is obtained by step 3 is not saved
if the [CANCEL] button is pressed.
6.
Quit the service mode. (Refer to Section 4-1-1.)

4-2-3. FIRMWARE WRITING AND VERSION
UPGRADE
Note:
Download the latest firmware and obtain the technical memo from
the ESI homepage.
Writing of firmware:
Be sure to write the latest firmware after replacing the MAIN board.
Otherwise, the normal operation cannot be performed.
Version Upgrade:
Perform the version upgrade when the functional upgrade (firmware
version upgrade) is required.
[Procedure of firmware writing and version upgrade]
1.
Download the latest firmware (hereafter referred to as firmware)
from the ESI homepage.
2.
Copy the firmware (downloaded and uncompressed folder) to
the root directory of the memory stick.

3.
Insert the memory stick into the memory stick slot of this unit.
4.
Insert one end of the power cord into the AC adapter (AC-S2422)
supplied with this unit and insert the other end of the power cord
into the receptacle.
5.
Insert the DC plug of the supplied AC adapter into the DC-IN
terminal of this unit.
6.
While pressing the [PRINT] button, press the [ON/STANDBY|
button.
7.
Release your finger from the button when the ACCESS LED
and the PRINT LED start flashing.
8.
After several minutes, check that the ACCESS LED and PRINT
LED change to stay lit.
(Completion of firmware writing or version upgrade)
9.
Press the PRINT button to turn off the power.
10. Remove the memory stick.
11. While pressing the [ENTER] and [CANCEL] buttons
simultaneously, press the [ON/STANDBY| button. (Service mode
starts.)
12. Release all buttons when the initial screen of the service mode is
displayed on the LCD display.
13. Check that the CHECKSUM value (hexadecimal value) displayed
on the screen is the same as the value of the firmware version
shown in ESI homepage.
14. Turn off the power and disconnect the power cord from the
receptacle.
[Check and adjustment upon completion of
  version upgrade]
1.
While pressing the [ENTER] and [CANCEL] buttons
simultaneously, press the [ON/STANDBY| button. (Service mode
starts.)
2.
Release all buttons when the initial screen of the service mode is
displayed on the LCD display.
1) Check the CHECKSUM: value.
Check that the CHECKSUM value (hexadecimal value)
displayed on the screen is the same as the value of the
firmware version shown in ESI homepage.
2) Check that the destination is not changed. (Destination is
displayed by XX of “DPP-FP70 (XX)” on the topmost line
of the service mode screen.)
3) If destination is changed after version upgrade is completed,
execute both items of destination change (as shown in
[Procedure of destination change] below) and LCD contrast
adjustment (VCOM).
For the procedure of the LCD contrast adjustment (VCOM),
refer to Service Manual “SECTION 4-2-2. LCD contrast
Adjustment, Color display check”.
