on DMB board
On MAIN board
This is a construction of DVD play back and Audio circuit of TAV-L1.
IC for DVD playback circuit is mounted on DMB board.
IC for Audio circuit is mounted on MAIN board.
Other ICs are mounted on SUB board and VIDEO board.
TAV-L1 can play some types of discs.
The audio signal route is different by the disc type.
There are total 4 types of signal flow.
1. CD Digital Audio
2. Video CD and DATA CD
3. DVD
4. SUPER AUDIO CD
Each circuit operation is explained later.

1. When TAV-L1 turn on, MAIN SYSTEM CONTROLLER (IC602) send
RESET signal to MPEG DECODER (IC102 110pin).
RESET signal to MPEG DECODER (IC102 110pin).
2. MPEG DECODER boots up and start to read the operation program from
FLASH ROM (IC101).
FLASH ROM (IC101).
And, MPEG DECODER starts to read backup data from EEPROM (IC103).
All backup data related with DVD function is recorded in EEPROM.
Ex. Language, Parental control, etc.
3. By checking S001 – S003 input, the loading mechanism position is detected.
4. If the loading mechanism is not in complete loading position, TAV-L1 starts
EJECT operation.
EJECT operation.
And, when the insertion of disc or input of EJECT key is detected, DSP (IC102)
outputs loading motor control signal to DRIVER (IC201).
outputs loading motor control signal to DRIVER (IC201).
And, DRIVER outputs driving voltage to LOADING Motor (M001).

Please refer to Block diagram on page 50 in the Service manual
For playing a disc, the servo operation is necessary.
The reflected ray from the disc is detected by OP (Optical Pick-up). And, the
signal is sent to RF AMP& SERVO DSP (IC102).
RF AMP & SERVO DSP produces the servo signal to control OP and Motors.
And, these servo signals are sent to DRIVER (IC201).
There are four types of servo signals.
1. Focus servo for OP: FOO (IC102 42pin)
2. Tracking servo for OP: TOO (IC102 41pin)
3. Sled servo for Sled motor: FMO (IC102 38pin)
4. Spindle servo for Spindle motor: DMO (IC102 37pin)
The servo adjustment is necessary when you replace a parts in this servo circuit.
(OP, Motors, ICs etc.)
The servo adjustment value is recorded in EEPROM (IC103).
When the set turns on, the servo adjustment value is read from EEPROM.
