Removing and replacing Fiery X3eTY2 components
Motherboard
Use the following procedures to remove and replace the Fiery X3eTY2 motherboard.
If you are removing the motherboard in order to replace it with a new motherboard,
observe the following guidelines:
• Replacement kits include a motherboard, as well as a service board and service board
cable.
• When you replace the motherboard, you must also replace the service board and cable
with the new service board and cable provided in the replacement kit. If you do not
install the replacement service board and cable along with the motherboard, the old
service board does not work.
• Return all old components to your authorized service/support center.

Lift the edge of the motherboard opposite the connector panel to release the
motherboard from the pan. Gently slide the motherboard out of the pan, and place the
motherboard on a flat, anti-static surface.
Make sure the connectors on the motherboard clear the cutouts in the connector panel as

REPLACE

THE

MOTHERBOARD
1.
If you are installing a new motherboard, install the DIMM(s) and CPU from the old
motherboard onto the new motherboard. For DIMM(s), see page 15; f
or the CPU,
see page 25.
Place the motherboard on an antistatic surface with some padding.
Do not transfer the BIOS chip from the old motherboard onto the new motherboard.
Doing so can cause the system to shut down due to incompatibility issues.
2.
Angle the motherboard so that the connectors on the motherboard fit into the cutouts in
the connector panel of the chassis pan, and gently slide the motherboard into the pan
(see Figure K on page 18).
3.
Align the mounting holes on the motherboard with the screw holes located in the base
of the pan.
4.
Insert the five motherboard mounting screws that attach the motherboard to the pan.
Partially tighten each screw before completing tightening any one screw. Do not
overtighten the screws; doing so could damage traces on the motherboard.
5.
If you installed a replacement motherboard, remove the existing service board and
service cable, and install the new service board and cable provided in your replacement
motherboard kit.
For more information, see “Service board” on page 20.
6.
Replace the following cables attached to the motherboard:
• Service board cable (J2)
• 20-pin power cable
• 4-pin power cable
• HDD data cable (SATA1)
• Exhaust fan cable (FAN3)
For the locations of each connector on the motherboard, see Figure G on page 11.
7.
Replace the interface board to connector PCI1 on the motherboard (see page 14).
8.
Reassemble the Fiery X3eTY2 and verify functionality (see page 36).
