3.  Start Windows 2000.

3.1 From the Start menu go to Settings and then Printers.

3.2 

In the Printers dialog box, double-click on Add Printer.

          

3.3 The welcome screen will appear, click the Next button.

3.4 You now have the option to attach to the shared print queue on the ARPE1 or print

directly via a TCP/IP connection.  The latter would be the better option and that is the
procedure that we will follow below.  Leave the selection on Local Printer and click Next.

3.5 The Wizard will now request the communications port:

3.6 For a TCP/IP connection to the ARPE1, highlight Create a new port and then from the

drop down menu select LPR Port. If LPR is not listed, perform step one of this handout -
Setup of the Print Services for Unix.

3.7 Click Next and the following screen will appear.

3.8  Where it asks for a Name or address of server providing LPD enter the IP address that

has been set in the ARPE1. Where it asks for a Name of printer or print queue on that
server, enter print, hold or direct  (In lowercase).

Use print for the printer queue name if normal print operations are desired.  Use hold if
jobs sent to the controller should be stored on the controller’s hard drive to be printed
later. If this is done, it is necessary to use one of the provided utilities (Webtools or
WebSpooler) to release and print the job.  When finished click OK and then click Close

3.9  The next step is to load the ARPE1 Print Driver.  Insert the ARPE1 User CD in to the

computer and then click Have Disk.

3.10  Click on Browse to move to the ARPE1 User CD-ROM.

3.11  In the screen shot below, I have browsed to the Win2000\English directory on the

User CD-ROM and found the driver file listed below. Once you have found this file,
click on the Open button.

3.12   Now we can see the full path name to the location of the files. Click on the OK button.

3.13   At this point you may be prompted to insert the Windows 2000 CD-ROM. Insert the

CD, click OK and then browse to the requested directory.

3.14   You are now prompted for the version of printer driver.  “Sharp AR-C150 E” is the A4

version, and  “Sharp AR-C150” is the Letter version. Generally for the UK we should
select  “Sharp AR-C150 E”. Highlight the required version and click Next.
