Sharp MFP – Using Sharpdesk
Sharpdesk, Sharp's original document management software provides the user with a
personal, desktop based, scanned image and electronic file management system.
Sharpdesk lets the user browse, sort, search, file and share documents with anyone on
the network. It allows creation and distribution of complete reports, proposals and
more with simple drag and drop operation.
User Friendly Operation
You can simply drag and drop your files onto Sharpdesk's View/Work Area, and you'll be
able to browse through them within a single window, with easy to recognise thumbnail
images. Over 200 types of files (such as Excel, Word, TIFF, JPEG and BMP) are supported.
Sharpdesk's powerful search function lets you quickly find the documents you need by a
"full text" index search. The full text index search utility yields results with unique
thumbnail view and summary for faster recognition of the correct file.

Easy Document Editing and Paper-Free Proofreading
With Sharpdesk Composer you can combine different types of files into a single
document through simple drag-and-drop operation. An annotation function in
Sharpdesk Imaging provides a range of useful editing tools, including labels, stamps,
marks and rectangles, allowing network users to check and proofread documents
without overwriting the original files - and without having to print a hard copy.
Network Scanner Expansion Kit
The Network Scanner Expansion Kit lets you turn your digital printer/copier into a
network scanner, allowing you to scan paper documents and convert them into editable
digital files. Directly from the printer/copier, you can scan documents right to your PC
desktop, send them as an email attachment or store them on a file server, without
having to send them through your file or mail server. This combination of Sharpdesk
with Sharp's Network Scanning gives a highly efficient scan, view, edit, send and store
workflow concept.

Methods of Control
232C
The PNL series supports both RS-232C and IP Control.
RS232C
You can control up to 255 screens via a PC’s serial port. Using a straight through serial
cable.
Sharp recommend that your connection is made to one PNL screen and then you daisy
chain the remaining screens.
IP Control
You can control up to 255 screens via the PC’s Ethernet port.
232C commands are sent to the screens IP address.
