CHAPTER 6. HARDWARE DESCRIPTIONS
1. MAIN PWB UNIT
1-1. SCALER U201 
(MODEL A: GM2321,   MODEL G: GM5321)
The gm2321 incorporated in Model A is an all-in-one LCD display con-
troller which supports analog image inputs up to SKGA (1280 x 1024),
and is composed of the micro-controller (x86 compatible), the OSD con-
troller, and the dual LVDS transmitter. 
The program for executing with the micro-controller can be selected
from the built-in standard program and the custom program of an exter-
nally-installed Flash memory. 
The externally-installed Flash memory space is 256Kbyte x 8bit. The
code in the externally-installed Flash memory can be revised through
serial communication from outside of the system by use of the ISP (In
System Programming) function.
There are 24 general-purpose I/O ports (GPIO) which can be controlled
by the micro-controller. 
The gm5321 incorporated in Model G is additionally provided with the
digital image input function. (It is not provided in the gm2321)
1-2. FLASH MEMORY U203 (PM25LV010)
This memory is a serial Flash memory of the SPI (Serial Peripheral
Interface) system. The memory is 128K x 8 bit (1Mbit), and only the
lower 256Kbyte is used for this model. 
1-3. SERIAL EEPROM U102 (24LC02) 
U101 (INSTALLED ONLY IN MODEL G, 24LC02)
This is a serial EEPROM (256 word x 8 bit) supporting the I2C bus. It is
for the DCD of analog and digital inputs, supporting the DDC2B.
1-4. SERIAL EEPROM U205 (24LC16)
This is a serial EEPROM (2K word x 8 bit) supporting the I2C bus. It is
controlled by the micro-controller provided in the scaler U201. It stores
the OSD setting data, etc. 
1-5. POWER CIRCUIT
This DC-DC power circuit on the main PWB generates 3.3V and 1.8V
for the scaler from DC5V of the power/inverter PWB unit. 
2. AUDIO PWB UNIT
2-1. AUDIO AMPLIFIER U201 (TDA7496L)
The TDA7496L is a stereo power amplifier of 2W + 2W. It is driven by
the power voltage of 12V, and drives two speakers (L and R channels)
of 8ɹ. The max. speaker output is 1W + 1W with the distortion rate of
10% or less. The output is also connected to the headphone terminal.
When the headphone plug is inserted, the speaker is shut off and an
output is provided from the headphone. It is also provided with the vol-
ume adjustment function, the mute function, and the standby function. 
3. POWER SOURCE, INVERTER PWB UNIT 
(PWPC1742HDP2)
3-1. POWER SOURCE SECTION
This power source can be used with AC90 Å` 264V (50/60Hz). The out-
put is provided in two systems; DC5V (max. 1.2A) and 12V (max. 2.6A).
DC12V can be also used in the inverter section in the same unit. 
The overvoltage circuit, the overcurrent circuit, and the temperature-
protection circuit are provided. In addition, two fuses are provided on
the primary side. 
3-2. INVERTER SECTION 
This is a four-lamp backlight (fluorescent lamps) lighting circuit which
adjusts the brightness of the LCD panel. It is driven by DC12V gener-
ated in the power section in the same unit. When a trouble occurs in the
lamp, the inverter unit operation may be interrupted by the protection
circuit. 
The inverter unit supplies a high voltage of about 1,000V to the lamps
with the booster transformer. 
When repairing, use a great care not to put your hands near the output
connector during conduction. It may cause a serious danger.
