6.2 Display Layout.
There are two sections to program the first choice is key size, the other is Display
size.
The amount of keys you can have on the main screen is dependent upon the size
you select for the key size and display size.
For example if you select the display area to be eight, which is the largest size of
display area then there will be less space for the key tops, if you select 3 then there
will be the maximum space for key tops
The UP3300/01 has two sizes of single key tops these will be refereed to as type A
and type B
Type A is a single key size of 3 by 8
Type B is the single key size of 4 by 8 (Refer to picture page 9)
There are obvious advantages to both key sizes.
The 3 by 8 selection is a smaller key and will therefore allow more key tops on the
screen.
These keys will allow for 6 characters of text, which is one line per single key top
Whereas the 4 by 8 size is a slightly larger key, this will give you fewer keys but will
allow for 12 characters, which are 2 lines of text per single key top.
The UP3300 is defaulted to 3 x 8 if this is changed to 4 x 8 then the keyboards will
have to be reprogrammed.
If the key size is changed the UP3300/01 will then ask if you want the default
screen, if you then press the list key you will see there is a choice of default or MRS-
2.
If the screen has changed from 3 x 8 to 4 x 8 then you may have to select MRS-2
keyboard selection.
This is not a complete master reset 2 as the PLU data etc. will remain in the
memory, the master reset 2 from here refers to the key allocation only.
Remember if selecting 3 x 8 or 4 x 8 for the single size key tops this will apply to all
the single size keys on all key screens.
As mentioned earlier the height of the main display area is also changeable.
The smallest size is 3 keys high and the largest selection is 8 keys high the size you
select will then determine the remaining area for key tops.
Depending on the key top size and the display size you will be able to allocate
between 30 keys and 65 keys on each key screen.
The display layout size should be carried out before the Free Key Layout as you may
lose keys if the display area is increased in size.

6.3. Key Top Descriptions
In this section, most of the Function Keys will be covered. There will be a brief
description of some of the key tops this will hopefully give you an idea of the
functionality of the machine.
Del Used in PGM mode to delete settings
Diff Subtotal can be used for tray totals for example the receipt will show a
subtotal for a block of items entered so far and then a complete total at the end of
the transaction.
Non Add code Used to input a numeric code for printout as a reference
NS  No sale, used to open the drawer without carrying a transaction
Scale Entry as the UP600/700 as a scale option this key is used for a manual entry
of a weighted item
Open Tare is also used in conjunction with the scale function the tare being the
weight of the package of the weighted article
G.C. Copy key is used to produce a pro forma invoice or an estimate type of bill, for
example if this key is pressed the items entered after it will not be put into the
machines memory but will appear on a receipt.
VP Validation Print, used to perform a print out onto a cheque (or paper) when
connected to an external slip printer
Refund and Return keys. The difference between these keys is the way in which
their totalizers are treated, for example if an item is refunded the PLU and
department sales are incremented and the stock is deducted.
Therefore if an item is sold then refunded the sales will be zero and the stock will be
zero.
However the return key will not increment the PLU or department sales and will not
deduct from stock.
Therefore, if an item is sold then returned the sales will be one and the stock will be
minus one.
The return key will also effect the Order Paid figure, as the item will appear as
Ordered but not paid for.
Final Key. This key is the same as the New Balance key in operation.
However the FINAL key will calculate the Tax, the NEW BALANCE does not. The
FINAL key does NOT finalise the transaction. When you use the FINAL key in place
of the NEW BALANCE, you will notice a large bold print indicating the Total amount.
