file in the satellite as the Master.

really. - For example you may want 5000

items in one part of the store(Master machine) but
only 100 items in another (satellite).
When you go to scan an EAN that is not in the
satellite it will bring it from the Master, it can then
be temporally stored in the D-EAN file.
These items can then be deleted or loaded into
the main EAN file.

What is the advantage to having D-EAN's on a
system.

The advantage to having D-EAN's is that EAN
codes can be temporarily stored in satellites D-
EAN file when they have been pulled from the
master and also when they have been learnt at
any terminal, they can be then discarded from
memory by deleting or be transferred into the main
EAN file, this makes the system more efficient.

When scanning (or entering) an item on the
Master the text etc. appears OK.
When this same item is entered on the Slave for
the 1st time the details are also correct.
However after the 1st transaction when this item
is called up again (Master or slave) the text has
defaulted back to the department text.

The cause of this particular problem was that 

table number 

30 was 

not present on the Master

machine.
This was caused by the machine being converted
from a Slave to a master machine.
You must create all the necessary files in the
above case select the relevant PLU Price file this
will create file 30.

Is it possible to update the PLU/EAN program
data on other machines in a network,
automatically after a change at either the satellite
machine or the master machine.

Yes, the PLU and EAN products are stored in the
same file and there is a new Job setting code
920-C to a 0 or 1. When this line is set all
machines will be updated automatically (deleted
PLU/EAN will also be updated).
