You can use the operation buttons to select options and to enter the currently
selected option on a menu screen or Function control screen. Each press of
SHIFT cycles the button function.

■ Button Functions

• The above operations are not possible with certain types of discs.
• The functions of the operation buttons change automatically to select/enter

when following screens are on the display: Function control screen, Setup
screen, Video adjust screen, Program screen, Menu screen, Title menu
screen, DVD-RW menu screen.
Pressing SHIFT while one of the above screens is on the display toggles
operation button functions between operation and select/enter. See the
sections covering each of the above displays for full details. (While one of
the above screens is on the display, the operation buttons do not function as
numeric input buttons.)

• You cannot change the button function while the Video adjust screen, DVD-RW

menu screen or Program screen is on the display in the DVD mode.

Your Player has two operation modes. Select the one that suits the operation
you want to perform.
• DVD mode for disc playback
• INPUT mode for input from external equipment

Press OPERATE to turn on power.

Press INPUT/DVD.
• Each press of INPUT/DVD toggles between the DVD mode and the

INPUT mode.

When you use the Player for the first time, you should set the language to be
used for the OSD (On Screen Display).

Press INPUT/DVD a number of times until you enter the DVD mode.

Press SETUP while a disc is stopped.
• “

 OSD LANGUAGE SETUP” screen

appears.

Use ', ", \ or | to select the language you want to use.

Press ENTER to confirm the setting.

• After the second time when you press SETUP, the screen in the

language that you selected in step 3 above appears immediately.

• You can change OSD LANGUAGE whenever you want. For details, please refer

to “OSD LANGUAGE SETUP setting” on page 55.
