SETTING UP
Battery Capacity Indicator
• The battery capacity indicator appears only while the display mode is “on”. The
indicator appears for a short while and then disappears.
• Battery condition, temperature, and operational conditions affect the
remaining capacity of a battery. Because of this the battery capacity
indicator is intended to be for reference purposes only.
• Regardless of the display mode, the low battery warning appears on the
display whenever the battery is about to go dead.
• The low battery warning does not appear when the display panel is closed.
When the POWER (G)/CHARGE(R) lamp flashes green, replace the battery
pack with a charged one or switch to AC adapter power.
• The low battery warning is being displayed until the battery goes dead. When the
battery goes dead, the POWER(G)/CHARGE(R) lamp turns off. When this
happens, replace the battery pack with a charged one or switch to AC adapter
power.

SETTING UP
Turning Power On and Off
To turn power on and off
• Each press of OPERATE toggles power on and off.
• In the following cases, the POWER (G)/CHARGE (R) lamp on the front of the
Player lights green to let you know that power is on. This helps to ensure you
do not forget and leave power on.
1 When the display panel is closed with the Player’s power turned on
2 When the LCD display setting is “off” (see page 67)
Auto Power Off
• Auto Power Off automatically turns off power when you leave the Player in
the DVD mode without a disc inserted or when playback is stopped for
more than 5 minutes.
Power is also turned off if no signal is received for more than 5 minutes in
INPUT mode.
• When not in use, unplug the AC adapter from the power outlet.
• The power supply circuit performs an initialization routine immediately after you
connect the AC adapter or a battery pack. Because of this, you should wait for
about three seconds before turning on power.

• The Remote may not work properly if the
remote sensor of the Player is in direct
sunlight or other strong light. Change the
orientation of the light or the Player and try
again.
• If you do not plan to use the Remote for a long time, remove its battery.
1
Holding the release tab to the
left, slide the battery holder from
the Remote with your fingernail
catching the slit.
2
Place a lithium battery into the
battery holder and slide the
battery holder back into place.
• Make sure the
 side of the
battery is facing in the same
direction as the

the battery holder. The
remote control will not
operate correctly if you insert
the battery upside-down.
