Changing the Display Mode
To change the display mode
1
Press DISPLAY.
• Each press of 
DISPLAY
 cycles through the
display mode settings in the following
sequence: ON 
 OFF 
 AUTO 
 ON.
AUTO
......
Display indicators appear for about
three seconds and then disappear.
ON .......... Display indicators remain displayed.
OFF
.........
Display indicators are not displayed.
• With some discs, chapter numbers and elapsed play time may not appear.
You can select “AUTO”, “ON”, or “OFF” as the display mode. The following
shows what appears on the display when “AUTO” or “ON” is selected.

Playing a Disc
This DVD player can play a DVD, video CD, or audio CD using the procedure
described below.
To play a disc
1
Slide the main power switch towards “ON” to turn on power.

Press INPUT/DVD a number of times until
you enter the DVD mode.

Load the disc you want to play into the DVD player.
• See page 20 for information about loading discs.

Press

PLAY.
• This starts disc play.
• Wait to press û
PLAY
 until the startup screen appears (see page 21).
Helpful Hints
• If the disc you are using supports auto start, it starts to play automatically (even if
you do not press û
PLAY
), as soon as you close the disc compartment cover.
