Procedure:
1.
Start the service mode. (Refer to Section 4-1-1.)
2.
Select “LCD Calibrate” using the arrow buttons (f,F) and press
the [ENTER] button. Then, the contrast adjustment is enabled.
3.
When the following display appears on the LCD screen, match
color of the left half screen with that of the right half screen
using the arrow buttons (g, G).  (The VCOM data should be
“05” to “1F”.)
4-2-2. LCD CONTRAST ADJUSTMENT AND
COLOR DISPLAY CHECK
LCD contrast can be adjusted and the color display can be check
using the service mode as follows:

When the arrow buttons (f, F) is pressed, color display can be
confirmed in the following order:
f
F
White
Black
Gray (thick)
Gray (thin)
Blue
Green
Red
5.
When the [ENTER] button is pressed, the screen returns to the
service mode startup  screen.
Note:
The screen returns to the startup screen of the service mode
when the [CANCEL] button is pressed. However, the LCD
contrast adjustment data that is obtained by step 3 is not saved
if the [CANCEL] button is pressed.
6.
Quit the service mode. (Refer to Section 4-1-1.)

Note:
Download the latest firmware and obtain the technical memo from
the ESI homepage.
Writing of firmware:
Be sure to write the latest firmware after replacing the BGA board.
Otherwise, the normal operation cannot be performed.
Version Upgrade:
Perform the version upgrade when the functional upgrade (firmware
version upgrade) is required.
[Procedure of firmware writing and version upgrade]
1.
Download the latest firmware (hereafter referred to as firmware)
from the ESI homepage.
2.
Copy the firmware (downloaded and uncompressed folder) to
the root directory of the memory stick.

3.
Insert the memory stick into the memory stick slot of this unit.
4.
Insert one end of the power cord into the AC adapter (AC-
S2425) supplied with this unit and insert the other end of the
power cord into the receptacle.
5.
Insert the DC plug of the supplied AC adapter into the DC-IN
terminal of this unit.
6.
While pressing the [PRINT] button, press the [ON/STANDBY|
button.
7.
Release your finger from the button when the ACCESS LED
and the PRINT LED start flashing.
8.
After several minutes, check that the ACCESS LED and PRINT
LED change to stay lit.
(Completion of firmware writing or version upgrade)
9.
Press the PRINT button to turn off the power.
10. Remove the memory stick.
11. While pressing the [ENTER] and [CANCEL] buttons
simultaneously, press the [ON/STANDBY| button. (Service
mode starts.)
12. Release all buttons when the initial screen of the service mode
is displayed on the LCD display.
13. Check that the CHECKSUM value (hexadecimal value)
displayed on the screen is the same as the value of the firmware
version shown in ESI homepage.
14. Turn off the power and disconnect the power cord from the
receptacle.
[Check and adjustment upon completion of
version upgrade]
1.
While pressing the [ENTER] and [CANCEL] buttons
simultaneously, press the [ON/STANDBY| button. (Service
mode starts.)
2.
Release all buttons when the initial screen of the service mode
is displayed on the LCD display.
1) Check the CHECKSUM: value.
Check that the CHECKSUM value (hexadecimal value)
displayed on the screen is the same as the value of the
firmware version shown in ESI homepage.
2) Check that the destination is not changed. (Destination is
displayed by XX of “DPP-FP60 (XX)” on the topmost line
of the service mode screen.)
3) If destination is changed after version upgrade is completed,
execute both items of destination change (as shown in
[Procedure of destination change] below) and LCD contrast
adjustment (VCOM).
For the procedure of the LCD contrast adjustment (VCOM),
refer to Service Manual “SECTION 4-2-2. LCD Contrast
Adjustment and Color Display Check”.

4-3-2. BUTTON/LED/TRAY SENSOR/RIBBON
SENSOR OPERATION CHECK
The operation of each button, LED and sensors can be checked.
Note:
After the machine enters this mode once, it cannot exit this mode
until the “Button operation check” is completed.
Procedure:
1.
Start the service mode. (Refer to Section 4-1-1.)
2.
Select “Button Test” using the arrow buttons (f,F) and press
 the [ENTER] button.
The following screen is displayed.
4-3-1. FAN OPERATION CHECK
Operation of fan can be check as follows:
Procedure:
1.
Start the service mode. (Refer to Section 4-1-1.)
2.
Press the [PRINT] button on the service mode startup screen.
3.
Check that the fan rotating sound changes in the following order
starting from
Low speed 
t High speed t Stop by every
pressing of the [PRINT] button.
4.
Quit the service mode. (Refer to Section 4-1-1.)
4-3. CHECK
Button operation check
Press the button on the operation panel of this unit. The pressed
button indication on the LCD of main unit lights in yellow. The
following screen shows that the [MENU] button is pressed.
When all 10 buttons are pressed one button after another, all button
indications on the screen light in red.
4) For the procedure of the destination change, refer to the
next paragraph [Procedure of destination change] shown
below.
4-2-4. Setting of destination
1.
While pressing the [ENTER] and [CANCEL] buttons
simultaneously, press the [ON/STANDBY| button. (Service
mode starts.)
2.
Release all buttons when the initial screen of the service mode
is displayed on the LCD display.
3.
Press the [ 
r
 ] key several times to move the cursor to [Select
Model], and press [ENTER].
4.
Move the cursor to the desired destination by using [ 
R
 ], [ 
r
 ],
[
T
], [
t
], and press [ENTER].
5.
Press the [ 
R
 ] key several times to return to the initial screen
(on which “DPP-FP60 (XX)” is displayed) of the service
mode to confirm that the destination is changed.
6.
Turn off the power and disconnect the power cord from the
receptacle.

7.
When the Memory Stick reading and the SD card reading are
completed, pres the [ENTER] button.
• When a Memory Stick and an SD card work normally so
that  images can be read without error, the character OK is
displayed on the right of “Card Test” on the service mode
startup screen.
• If a Memory Stick or an SD card is not set, or if image is not
contained in a Memory Stick and an SD card, or image cannot
be   read from a Memory Stick and an SD card, background
of the screen  becomes red and the character NG (No Good)
is displayed in the  left bottom of a screen.
4-3-3. IMAGE READING CHECK FROM MEMORY
STICK/SD CARD
Image reading from Memory Stick and SD card can be checked.
Preparation:
Place the JPEG file in the root directory of a Memory Stick.
(Filename: MS.jpg)
Place the JPEG file in the root directory of an SD card. (Filename:
SD.jpg)
Procedure:
1.
Start the service mode. (Refer to Section 4-1-1.)
2.
Select “Card Test” by using the arrow buttons (f, F).
3.
Insert a Memory Stick that is prepared separately, and press
the [G] button.
4.
Confirm that the MS.jpg image is displayed.
5.
Remove the Memory Stick, and insert an SD card that is
prepared separately.
6.
Press the [F] button and confirm that the SD.jpg image is
displayed.
When the checks of all buttons are completed without problem, the
initial screen of the service mode is displayed and “OK” is displayed
to the right of “Button Test”.
3.
Quit the service mode. (Refer to Section 4-1-1.)
LED operation check
Check that the “PRINT LED” and the “Access LED” light up during
the “Button Test”, and then flash before turning off when the “Button
Test” is completed.
Ribbon sensor operation check
Whether the ribbons are correctly recognized or not can be checked.
Check to see that the ribbon type display on the screen agrees with
the inserted ribbon when different types of ribbon are inserted.

4-3-5. ABOUT THE ERROR INDICATION
In this unit, “printer status” and “last 10 error status” can be indicated
and checked in the service mode.
Startup procedure
1.
Start the service mode. (Refer to Section 4-1-1.)
2.
Select “Print Status” using the  arrow buttons (f,F) and press
the [ENTER] button.
“Status indication” screen is displayed. The 1/2 page and the
2/2 page are displayed by using the arrow buttons (f, F).
3.
After confirming the error indication, quit the service mode.
(Refer to Section 4-1-1.)
**Error 0** is displayed on the initial status screen in the past error
status. To display the earlier error history, press the  arrow button
(G) and to display the later error history, press the arrow button
(g). The pages can be selected by using the arrow buttons (f, F).
When the arrow button (g) is pressed in the **Error 0** state, **Last
Status** is displayed. In the case that no error occurred in
the past, **Last Status** is displayed on the initial status screen.
Use the arrow button (g) to display **Current Status**.

• If either a Memory Stick or an SD card is NG (No Good),

“Card Test”  on the service mode startup screen.
8.
Quit the service mode. (Refer to Section 4-1-1.)
4-3-4. USB HOST/DEVICE COMMUNICATION
CHECK
The communication checks of the USB output terminal (USB
device) and PictBridge terminal (USB host) are performed in the
service mode.
Procedure:
1.
Start the service mode. (Refer to Section 4-1-1.)
Note:
In this check, it is not required to select the item in the service
mode menu.
2.
Connect the PictBridge terminal with the USB output terminal
using the USB cable.
3.
Check that the following specification is satisfied.Specification:
The two characters  “--” on the top right column of “USB Test”
are changed to “OK”.
Note:
If “NG” or “????????” is displayed, either PictBridge terminal
or USB output terminal is defective.
4.
Upon completion of the check, remove the USB cable.
5.
Quit the service mode. (Refer to Section 4-1-1.)
