4-8. ULTRASONIC MOTOR HEIGHT CHECK/ADJUSTMENT
Equipment
• SSM Height Adjustment Jig

1. Preparation
Set the lens completely, and remove the SSM Holding Plate and the spring (motor).

2. Checking Method
1) Attach the SSM Height Adjustment Jig and SSM Height ADJ Harpoon Jig to above the Plate (Pressure Plate) as shown in Fig. 4-8-2.
1) Attach the SSM Height Adjustment Jig and SSM Height ADJ Harpoon Jig to above the Plate (Pressure Plate) as shown in Fig. 4-8-2.
Note:
Install the SSM Height Adjustment Jig with the Focus Stopper Pin placed in the groove.
2) Place the weights at both sides of the SSM Height Adjustment Jig so that the condition below is satisfied. (Fig. 4-8-2)
SSM Height Adjustment Jig + SSM Height ADJ Harpoon Jig + weight = 1600g
3) Measure height in the upper side of SSM Height Adjustment Jig, make the result 0 point.
Note:
Measuring at the near center of SSM Height Adjustment Jig.

4) Then, install the SSM Height Adjustment Jig to above the Focus Stopper Pins.
Note:
Make sure that the lower rim of the SSM Height Adjustment Jig stays on the Focus Stopper Pin when installed the SSM Height Adjustment Jig.
5) Measure height in the upper side of SSM Height Adjustment Jig.

3. Adjustment Method
1) According to the result in 2. Checking Method , calculate the ultrasonic motor height using following formula.

X = A - (3.2 + Marking value of flexible board (lowermost 3 digits))
• In case the value of X is negative (-), decrease the thickness of the SSM Adjustment Washers by value X.
• In case the value of X is positive (+), increase the thickness of the SSM Adjustment Washers by value X.
• In case the value of X is positive (+), increase the thickness of the SSM Adjustment Washers by value X.
Specification: Value of X - Total thickness of all washers = less than
±
0.05 (mm)
Example: In the case the value of A is 4.35 mm
,
lowermost three digits of board is 088
4.35 - (3.2 + 0.88) = 0.27
Increase the thickness of SSM Adjustment Washer by 0.27 mm equivalent.

2) Remove the SSM Height Adjustment Jig and SSM Height ADJ Harpoon Jig.
3) Assemble the spring (motor) so that its trough avoids the flexible wire of stator.
4) Install the SSM Holding Plate while matching its cutouts with the Focus Stopper Pins.

Note:
Use a bundling product in a set for stator, rotor, sheet (middle) (motor), sheet (lower) (motor), spring (motor).
5) Turn the SSM Holding Plate counterclockwise about 30 degrees.
6) Apply adhesive bond (B-10) to fix the Focus Stopper Pins, SSM Holding Plate, and straight moving barrel.

4-9. INSTALLATION OF LENS ADJUSTMENT PROGRAM
4-9-1. Installing the Lens Adjustment Program (ActuatorCheckerSSM)

• Finished Inspection JIG II (AC 100 - 240 V)

Note 1:
Personal computer must have the condition that Windows Vista/7 runs normally and USB is connectable.
Note 2:
Acquire the Lens Adjustment Program (ACSSM-S-VerX.XX.zip) from the each HQ.
1. Saving Lens Adjustment Program (ACSSM-S-VerX.XX.zip)
1) Unzip the Lens Adjustment Program (ACSSM-S-VerX.XX.zip)
2) Save ACSSM-S-VerX.XX.exe in an arbitrary folder.

Note:
The version of ACSSM-S-VerX.XX.exe might be updated.
4-9-2. Connection of Finished Inspection JIGⅡ and Startup of Lens Adjustment Program (ActuatorCheck-

Note 1:
Confirm that 4-9-1. Installing the Lens Adjustment Program (ActuatorCheckerSSM) has been completed before this procedure is executed.
Note 2:
In case of performing Finished inspection, be sure to perform in the condition that the lens is laid down (do not perform in the lens standing con-
dition).

Connect equipment and checking lens as shown in Fig. 4-9-1.

2. Startup of Lens Adjustment Program (ActuatorCheckerSSM)
1) Turn on the personal computer and the finished inspection JIG II.
2) Start up ACSSM-S-VerX.XX.exe from an arbitrary folder.

• At the first time using, the followings appear on the screen (Fig. 4-9-2).

It is required to ask HQ about the password for the Com/User Characteristic Number and the manufacturer/type name of the personal
computer.

• It is no need to input password to the computer once registered.

4-9-4. About Inspection Procedure of Lens Adjustment Program (ActuatorCheckerSSM)
The inspection method has the method of executing the method of inspecting the corresponding model as everything continues and the in-

4-10. FINISHED ADJUSTMENT/INSPECTION (ActuatorCheckerSSM)
4-10-1. Preparation
1) Attach the checking lens to the equipment. (Refer to 4-9-2. Connection of Finished Inspection JIG II and Startup of Lens Adjustment
Program (ActuatorCheckerSSM) ).
2) Start up the lens adjustment program (ACSSM-S-VerX.XX.exe).
3) Click [Setup] and perform the initial setting. (Refer to 4-9-3. Initial Setting of Lens Adjustment Program (ActuatorCheckerSSM) ).

Note:
When the Multi Serial window opens, take the following actions.
Process No.: You need not enter process number.

4-10-2. Finished Adjustment/Inspection Item
Perform finished adjustment/inspection item as following procedures.
1. Adjustment/Inspection Method
1) Click [Start[Ent]] on the main screen.
2) SSM frequency input screen is displayed.
