SECTION  1
SERVICING  NOTES
UNLEADED  SOLDER
Boards requiring use of unleaded solder are printed with the lead-
free mark (LF) indicating the solder contains no lead.
(Caution:  Some printed circuit boards may not come printed with
the lead free mark due to their particular size)
 : LEAD  FREE  MARK
Unleaded solder has the following characteristics.
•  Unleaded solder melts at a temperature about 40 °C higher
than ordinary solder.

Ordinary soldering irons can be used but the iron tip has to be
applied to the solder joint for a slightly longer time.

Soldering irons using a temperature regulator should be set to
about 350 °C.
Caution: The printed pattern (copper foil) may peel away if
the heated tip is applied for too long, so be careful!
• Strong
viscosity

Unleaded solder is more viscous (sticky, less prone to fl ow)
than ordinary solder so use caution not to let solder bridges
occur such as on IC pins, etc.
•
Usable with ordinary solder

It is best to use only unleaded solder but unleaded solder may
also be added to ordinary solder.
CONFIRMING  THE  OPERATION
Please confi rm the car audio unit works even if REM output is not
connected when you connect this unit with the car audio unit by
the HIGH LEVEL input.
PROTECTOR  OPERATION  CHECK
Thermal Protect
TH503 TEMP_POW2
1.  Short across TH503 with the power on in normal room envi-
ronment.
2.  Verify that the protector is operated and POWER/PROTECT
indicator fl ashes quickly (once every 0.2 seconds). When input
the signal and verify that there is no output on the SP-OUT.

However in normal operation this condition will occur if tem-
perature of TH503 is about 120 ± 5 °C.
3.  Verify that the protector is released and there is an output on
the SP-OUT when the short was removed and reset the AMP
REM.
TH502 TEMP and TH501 TEMP_AMP
1.  Input signal then short across TH501 with the power on in nor-
mal room environment.
2.  Verify that the protector is operated and the POWER/PRO-
TECT indicator fl ashes slowly (once every second) then verify
that output signal on the SP-OUT reduce.

However in normal operation this condition will occur if tem-
perature of TH501 is about 101 ± 4 °C and temperature of
TH501 and TH502 difference more than 45 ± 2 °C.
3.  Verify that the protector is released and output signal on the
SP-OUT is increate when the short was removed.
Remark:
IC301 there are Over Current Protection, Offset Protection and
Thermal Protection function.
So it also can protect these ones by itself.
The SERVICING NOTES contains important information for servicing. Be sure to read this section before repairing the unit.

NOTE  FOR  REPAIRING  BOARD
Only part of electrical parts that mounted on the board of this unit
can be replaced for repair.
Refer to “6. ELECTRICAL PARTS LIST” about electrical parts
for service.
Since electrical parts that are not described in the electrical parts
list cannot be replaced for repair, replace the complete mounted
board when these electrical parts are defective.
GREASE  APPLYING  OF REPLACING  THE  COMPLETE
MAIN  BOARD  OR  IC301  ON  THE  MAIN  BOARD
When the complete MAIN board or IC301 on the MAIN board are
replaced, be sure to apply the grease (OIL COMPOUND (KS609))
so as to cover the IC301 on the MAIN board.

SECTION  2
GENERAL
This section is extracted
from instruction manual.
ˋ The unit will not come into contact with a
driver/passengers or materials in your car since
the unit becomes hot during use.
ˎ Do not install the unit under the floor carpet,
where the heat dissipation from the unit will be
considerably impaired.
Mounting the unit
Prepare a mounting board that is thicker than 20
mm (
13
/
16
in) since the supplied mounting screws
ͬ are all 20 mm (
13
/
16
in) long. The unit can also be
mounted on the flat surface of your car without a
mounting board.
1
Insert the supplied mounting brackets
ͪ
into the slits of the unit and secure them
with the supplied bracket screws
ͫ.
2
Place the unit on the mounting board
and mark the two screw hole positions.
3
Drill a 3 mm (
1
/
8
 in) pilot hole at each
mark on the mounting board.
ʘ
ʗ
ʘ
ʗ
Installation
ˎ Mount the unit on a flat surface.
ˎ Mount the unit where
ˋ The unit will not interfere with the normal
movements of the driver.
ˋ The unit will not be exposed to direct sunlight
or hot air from the heater.
ˎ Connect the +12 V power supply wire only after all
the other wires have been connected and the
settings on this unit have been made.
ˎ Be sure to connect the ground (earth) wire of the
unit securely to a metal point of the car. A loose
connection may cause a malfunction of the
amplifier.
ˎ Be sure to connect the remote control wire of the
car audio unit to the remote input (REM) wire of
the supplied power connection cable.
ˎ When using a car audio unit without a remote
output for the amplifier, connect the remote input
(REM) wire of the supplied power connection
cable to the accessory power supply.
ˎ Use a power supply wire with a fuse (15 A)
attached.
ˎ All power wires connected to the positive battery
post should be fused within 450 mm (17
3
/
4
 in) of
the battery post, and before they pass through
any metal.
ˎ Make sure that the car’s battery wires connected
to the car (ground (earth) to chassis) are of a wire
gauge at least equal to that of the main power
wire connected from the battery to the amplifier.
ˎ During full-power operation, a current of more
than 15 A will run through the system. Therefore,
make sure that the wires to be connected to the
+12 V and GND wires of this unit are at least 14-
Gauge (AWG-14) or have a sectional area of more
than 2 mm² (
3
/
32
 in²).
Power Connections
4
Place the unit on the mounting board
and secure it with the supplied mounting
screws
ͬ.
Connections
ˎ Before making any connections, disconnect the
ground (earth) terminal of the car battery to avoid
short circuits.
ˎ If your car is equipped with a computer system for
navigation or some other purpose, disconnecting
the ground (earth) wire from the car battery may
damage the computer memory. Leaving the
ground (earth) wire connected and disconnecting
the +12 V power supply wire until all the other
wires have been connected may prevent short
circuits.
ˎ Be sure to use speakers with an adequate power
rating. If you use small capacity speakers, they
may be damaged.
ˎ Do not connect the ¾ terminal of the speaker
system to the car chassis, and do not connect the
¾ terminal of the right speaker with that of the
left speaker.
ˎ Install the input and output cords away from the
power supply wire. Running them close together
may generate interference noise.
