5.  On PC, open the folder created in step 1, and start “Digital 

Player Software Update tool” by double-clicking “FWUpdat-
er.exe”.

6.  On PC, check into the [I agree] box on “Digital Player Soft-

ware Update tool”, and click the [Next] button.

 The language displayed in “Digital Player Software Update tool” 

changes with linguistic environment of PC.

7.  On PC, confi rm that all applications are terminated, and click 

the [OK] button on “Digital Player Software Update tool”.

8.  On PC, confi rm that the following screen is displayed, and 

click the [OK] button on “Digital Player Software Update 
tool”.

9.  On PC, wait for a while until progress will be 100%.

 “WALKMAN” is rebooted automatically.

10. On PC, confi rm that the following screen is displayed, and 

click the [Finish] button on “Digital Player Software Update 
tool”.

11. Confi rm that the following screen is displayed on “WALK-

MAN”, and tap the [OK] button, and fi rmware update is 
completed.

12. On PC, unmount the USB storage, and disconnect the USB 

cable for the WM-PORT from PC and “WALKMAN”.

13. Perform initialization by the following procedure.
 Tap  -   [Settings] - [  Backup & reset] - [Factory data 

reset] - [Reset device] - [Erase everything].

 

Your Walkman restarts automatically after being initialized. 
Then initial setting screen is displayed.

14. Perform initial setting by the following procedure.
 Tap 

[English] 

→ [Agree] → [Start] → [Skip] → [Skip any-

way] 

→ [B] → [B] → [B] → [B] → [B] → [B] → [Finish] 

→ [OK] → [Cancel] → [OK], and to display the home screen.

15. Tap “ ” (Apps) on “WALKMAN”, and the list of applications 

is displayed.

16. Tap “Settings” icon.

17. Tap “About device” icon.

18. Confi rm that the last four digits of “Build number” are changed 

into the value corresponding to “WALKMAN”.

Delete data such as Google account information and downloaded applications, and 

reset your Walkman to factory default. If you put a checkmark in the checkbox by 

tapping [Erase system storage], the following data will be erased: Music and photo 

data transferred to the Walkman, preinstalled content, the Help_Guide_Installer.exe 

or Help_Guide_Installer_for_mac file stored on [System storage] for installation on 

your computer. Be careful because the preinstalled content and the files in the 

“FOR_WINDOWS” and “FOR_MAC” folders will not be offered again. It is best to 

back up such data to a computer before initializing (formatting) the Walkman. 

1. Swipe the status bar down and tap 

 - 

 [SETTINGS]. 

2. Tap [

 Backup & reset] - [Factory data reset] - [Reset device]. 

To delete music, photos, etc. transferred to [System storage], scroll down and 

then tap [Erase system storage] to put a checkmark in the checkbox before 

tapping [Reset device].

3. Tap [Erase everything]. 

Your Walkman restarts automatically after being initialized (formatted).

Try resetting your Walkman if operations become unstable. Before resetting the 

Walkman, disconnect the Walkman from your computer and check that no content 

such as music is being played. Otherwise, the data may be damaged. 

1. Press and hold the button (

) for about 8 seconds to reset your Walkman.

You can reset your Walkman even if the display of the Walkman is turned off.

t Resetting your Walkman will not delete any data or reset any settings.

ABOUT  THE  REPAIRING  OF  BOARD
When boards installed by this unit are defective, replace the com-
plete mounted board or the whole parts containing the complete 
mounted board.

NOTE  OF  HANDLING  GOLD-PLATED  PARTS
The copper plate thickness of the two gold-plated parts below that 
are used in this device is thin. Subjecting them to strong force may 
cause deformation.
Be careful when handling them.

Gold-plated parts susceptible to deformation:
