4) Place the front speakers 

forward of the TV

reflecting obstacles

in front of the speakers.

To prevent the sound reflection, set the speaker at the front edge part of the AV 
rack.

If there are source of reflection near the speaker, the virtual sound direction may 
become poor.

6) Both front speakers should be

In one front speaker, there are two speakers.
There are some angles at the outside speaker to create the virtual effect.
Therefore, the front speakers should be pointed straight forward, not to the 
listener.

If the speaker is pointed to the listener, the virtual effect becomes poor.

4-2. Sound Field Mode

DAV-X1 equips two sound field mode of “S-FORCE PRO FRONT 
SURROUND”.

They can be selected with SOUND FIELD button on remote.

Limitation by disc type and sound source

• CD, Data CD

=> AUTO setting : “2ch stereo”

• Super Audio CD

=> “2ch stereo” only

• DVD multi-channel signal, AC-3 multiplex broadcast signal

=>default AUTO setting: “FOCUS SURROUND”

• Digital stereo signals, digital multi signals 

=> The surround effect might be difficult to hear depending on the 

type of source signals except for DVD multi-channel signals

.

There are some limitation in  sound field mode operation by the source.

1. CD, Data CD 

If the setting is AUTO, these discs are played in 2 ch stereo mode.

2. Super Audio CD
This disc can be played only in 2ch stereo mode.

3. DVD multi channel signal or AC-3 multiplex broadcast signal

If the setting is AUTO, the default setting is FOCUS SURROUND.

(Wide mode effect is poor depends on the source.)

4. Digital stereo signals, digital multi signals 

The surround effect might be difficult to hear depending on the type of source 

signals except for DVD multi-channel signal.
