SERVICE  MODE
General
This is the diagnostics to define the faulty position.
The diagnostics can be executed using the remote commander
(RM-ADP006) and monitor.
To  execute the service mode, connect the LINE OUT jack
(AV-089AU board J801) to the monitor.
1. Entering The Service Mode
Procedure:
1. Connect the AC power cord to the power outlet.
2. A message, “WELCOME” appears on the fluorescent indicator
tube.
3. During “WELCOME” is displayed, press down three buttons
of [HDD], [REC STOP] and [PROGRAM +] on the main unit
for about 15 to 20 seconds until MAIN MENU screen is
displayed on the monitor as follows.
Either “OK” or “NG” appears on the monitor screen while the
diagnostics is in progress.
You can judge the respective device or its peripheral from the
message of either “OK” or “NG” on the monitor screen.
When an abnormality is detected, the diagnostics is stopped
at that moment and you can select to proceed the diagnostics
or to stop it.
2. Releasing The Service Mode
To release this mode, disconnect the power.

All parts are mounted on the RD-053AU board.
When NG is displayed as the result of the DEVICE TEST, the IC or
its peripheral is defective. When NG is displayed on the PATH TEST,
defect exists in between ICs.
4. Screen Transition
In the Service Mode, monitor screen is transition as follows.
Note:
Do not execute “4) NAND Factory Setup” in the “3) TEST MODE”
menu. This item is dedicated for factory use.
Otherwise, the memory data is deleted and the setting cannot be
recovered.
5. MAIN MENU Items And Description
1) When the key “1” is pressed down, the monitor display moves
to the device check menu screen.
2) When the key “2” is pressed down, the monitor display moves
to the path check menu screen between devices.
3) When the key “3” is pressed down, the monitor display moves
to the version check screen.
4) When the key “9” is pressed down, the monitor display moves
to the hard disk check screen.

6. DEVICE TEST MENU 1/2 Items And Description
1) When the key [1] is pressed down, the GRIPS2 device check
will be executed.
2) When the key [2] is pressed down, the NAZCA device check
will be executed.
3) When the key [3] is pressed down, the CARIB device check
will be executed.
4) When the key [4] is pressed down, VIDEO DEC device check
will be executed.
5) When the key [5] is pressed down, the EEPROM device check
will be executed .
6) When the key [6] is pressed down, the NAND FLASH device
check will be executed.
7) Key [7] is not used.
8) Key [8] is not used.
9) Key [9] is not used.
10) When the key

is pressed down, the monitor display switches
to the “DEVICE TEST MENU 2/2” screen.
7. DEVICE TEST MENU 2/2 Items And Description
1) Key [1] is not used.
2) Key [2] is not used.

to the DEVICE TEST MENU 1/2 screen.
8. PATH TEST MENU Items And Description
1) When the key [1] is pressed down, the NAZCA path check is
executed.
2) When the key [2]  is pressed down, the path check of PB
between CARIB to NAZCA will be executed.
3) When the key [3]  is pressed down, the path check of EE
between VDEC to NAZCA will be executed.
4) Key [4] is not used.
5) When the key [5] is pressed down, the path check of CARIB
ReEnc will be executed.
6) When the key [6]  is pressed down, the path check of EE
between CARIB Audio will be executed.
7) Key [7] is not used.
9. HDD MODE
1) When the key [1]  is pressed down, the Indicate ID will be
executed.
2) When the key [2]  is pressed down, the Performance Check
will be executed.
3) When the key [3]  is pressed down, the Write ID will be
executed.
4) When the key [4] is pressed down, the Format will be executed.
5) When the key [9] is pressed down, the Factory Check will be
executed.
10. Path Individual Check
(Pasted Screen Check (visual check) and data
check (digital video data auto-check))
1) Select the “1) NAZCA” item from the “PATH TEST MENU”
screen.
2) The device pasted screen (top of the color bar) is displayed.
(When visual check is required, the display does not move to
the judgement screen but remains displaying the picture.)
3) When the [ENTER] key is pressed, the monitor displays the
judgement screen.
4) When the [RETURN] key is pressed on the judgement screen,
the monitor display returns to the PATH TEST MENU screen.

COLD  RESET
Procedure:
1. Connect a monitor to the LINE OUT jack (J801 on the AV-
089AU board).
2. Connect the subwoofer unit by attached system cord.

3. Press the

button to turn the power on.
4. Press the [SYSTEM MENU] key on the remote commander to
display menu screen.
5. Press the

key on the remote commander to select
“SETUP” and press the [ENTER]  key on the remote
commander.
6. Press the

key on the remote commander to select
“Options” and press the
c
key on the remote commander.
7. Press the
X
/
x
key on the remote commander to select
“Factory Setup” and press the [ENTER]  key on the remote
commander to the monitor display for selecting a group of
settings appears.
8. Press the

“ALL” and press the [ENTER] key on the remote commander.
9. To  execute the cold reset, select the “Start” and press the
[ENTER] key on the remote commander.

If subwoofer is not connected, it does not execute the “Speaker” reset.
VERSION  DISPLAY
Procedure:
1. Press the
I/
1
button to turn the power on.
2. P r e s s   t h r e e   bu t t o n s   o f  [REC STOP], [REC MODE] a n d
[VOLUME +] simultaneously to display the version on the
fluorescent indicator tube. Each time those three buttons are
pressed, it displays as follows.

If subwoofer is not connected, it displays “NOT IN USE”.
DVD  FORCED  RESET
Procedure:
1. In the standby or power on status, press down the
I/
1
button
for more than 10 seconds until “WELCOME” appears on the
fluorescent indicator tube.
2. Several seconds later, it returns to the standby mode.
HDD  FORCED  FORMAT
Note:
When this operation is executed, all contents recorded on the HDD
will be erased.
Procedure:
1. The message “HDD ERROR” is diplayed on the FL tube if
error occurred of the HDD as data discord. In this case,  press
down the [HDD]  button for more than 10 seconds until
“FORMAT” appears on the fluorescent indicator tube.
DISC  TRAY  LOCK  MODE
This mode is used to unable to take sample disc out of tray in the
shop.
Procedure:
1. Press the
I/
1
button to turn the power on.
2. Press down two buttons of
x
and
A
for 5 seconds until
“TRAY LOCKED” appears on the fluorescent indicator tube.
3. To release this lock, press the two buttons of
x
and
A
for 5
seconds until “UNLOCKED” appears again.
FORCED  EJECT
1. Insert the disc.
2. Disconnect the AC plug, then connect the AC plug while
pressing down the
A
button, .and release the button when
the disc tray opens. (about 20 seconds)
3. Keep  the
I/
1
button pressed for about 10 seconds until
“WELCOME” appears on the fluorescent indicator tube.
Note:
This operation can use while the disc tray lock is working.
