• The WIDE MODE menu displays.

Press f or a/b to select an item while the WIDE
MODE menu displays on the screen.
• Items you can selelect from the menu list are shown
below.

• Selectable items may vary with signal input type.
• What is “Dot by Dot”?
• This function detects the resolution of  the signal from a computer and displays an image with the same number of
pixels, dot by dot.
• When an XGA (1024g768) signal is input, selecting “Normal” enables “Dot by Dot” display.
• When a XGA WIDE (1280g768) signal is input, selecting “Dot by Dot (W)” enables “Dot by Dot” display.

Wide screen signalling (WSS) (AV
Input mode only)
WSS allows a television to switch automatically among
the different screen formats.

Press MENU.

Press  a/b to select “Option”, and then press
ENTER.

Press  a/b to select “WSS”, and then press
ENTER.

Press a/b to select “Off” or “On”, and then press
ENTER.

Press MENU to exit the menu.

• Return to the previous menu by pressing RETURN.
• Try to set WIDE mode if an image does not switch to the
correct screen format. When the broadcast signal contains
no WSS information, the function will not work even if
enabled. See page 51.
Picture aspect ratio (AV Input mode
only)
Allows you to select the aspect ratio of a video signal
for standard 4:3 or full screen images.

Projects 16:9 squeeze image evenly over
entire screen.
Displays a 16:9 squeeze image without
distortion.
However, black bands appear at the top
and bottom.

Sleep timer
Allows you to set a time when the TV automatically
switches to standby.

Press SLEEP.
• Remaining time displays when sleep timer has been
set.

Each time you press SLEEP, the remaining time
switches as shown below.
• When the time has been set, countdown automatically
starts.
• Five minutes before the preset of time expires, the
remaining time displays each minute.

• Select “0” by pressing SLEEP to cancel the sleep timer.
