C. Paper lifting operation
Set paper in the paper feed tray and insert the paper feed tray into
the machine. The lift plate lifts up.
Paper is lifted by the lift motor (DxLM).
When the paper feed tray 1 upper limit detector (DxULD) detects
the top of paper, the lift motor (DxLM) stops and the contact pres-
sure between paper on the top and the paper pickup roller
becomes the proper level when paper is picked up.
When the paper remaining quantity is decreased, the lift plate lifts
up in each case to maintain the contact pressure between paper on
the top and the paper pickup roller at the proper level when paper is
picked up.
D. Paper feed operation
The paper feed motor (DPFC) is turned ON, and then the paper
feed clutch (DxPFC) is turned ON.
The power of the paper feed motor (DPFM) is transmitted through
the paper feed clutch (DxPFC) to the paper pickup roller and the
paper feed roller.
The paper pickup roller descends to pick up paper on the top and
feed it to the paper feed roller.
The paper feed roller feeds paper to the paper transport section.
At that time, the separation roller rotates to prevent double-feed.
E. Paper size detection operation
Detects the paper size by using combination of ON/OFF of three
switches and the concave and the convex sections of the paper
size detection block whose position is changed in connection with
the paper guide (longitudinal direction).
When the paper guide (longitudinal direction) position is changed,
the concave and convex sections of the paper size detection block
which are in contact with the paper size detection PWB detector
are changed by the paper size detection block drive gear.

When the position is changed according to the paper length, the positions of the concave and the 
convex sections of the paper size detection block which is in contact with the paper size detection 
PWB detector are changed by the paper size detection block drive gear.

(Paper feed tray 3)
Transmits the paper guide position (longitudinal direction) to the paper size detection block position in 
order to detect the paper size.

Paper guide (lateral direction) (Paper feed tray 3)
Prevents paper feed skew.

Lift plate (Paper feed tray 3)
Lifts up paper and maintain the contact pressure between paper on the top and the paper pickup 
roller to provide a stable paper feed power.

Paper size detection PWB (Paper feed tray 3)
Detects the paper size by utilizing the combination of the concave and the convex sections of the 
paper size detection block whose position is changed in connection with the paper guide position 
(longitudinal direction) and ON/OFF of the three switches.

Paper remaining quantity detection actuator 
(Paper feed tray 3)
The lift plate position is changed according to the paper remaining quantity, and the paper remaining 
detection actuator position is also changed. It is detected by the paper remaining quantity detector to 
recognize the paper remaining quantity.

Dry heater (Paper feed tray 3) (Option)
Dehumidifies the paper feed tray.

F. Paper remaining quantity detection operation
There are four levels of the paper remaining quantity:  3 levels of
remaining quantity and paper empty.
Paper empty:
The paper tray 1 paper empty detector (DxPED) is turned ON.
When the paper remaining quantity is 2/3 - 3/3:
The paper remaining quantity detector (DxULD) is not turned ON
when paper on the paper feed tray is lifted up and the paper feed
tray upper limit detector (DxPED) detects paper on the top and lift-
ing is stopped.
When the paper remaining quantity is 2/3:
The paper remaining quantity detector (DxULD) is turned ON when
paper on the paper feed tray is lifted up and the paper feed tray
upper limit detector (DxPQD) detects paper on the top and lifting is
stopped.
When the paper remaining quantity is 1/3 or less:
The paper remaining quantity detector (DxPQD) is turned ON once,
and then turned OFF.
G. Paper feed tray section control
The option paper feed tray (the paper feed tray 2, 3, 4) are con-
trolled by the desk control PWB.
For load control, the desk control PWB outputs the control signal
according to the control data from the PCU PWB.
The sensor and detector signals are inputted to the desk control
PWB and sent to the PCU PWB.
The no-paper detection sensor detects
the state of no remaining paper.
