MX-CSX2  OPERATIONAL DESCRIPTIONS  4 – 1
MX-CSX2
Service Manual

[4] OPERATIONAL DESCRIPTIONS
1. Paper feed operation
* Paper feed from the tray 2
1)
Feeding of the first sheet is started. Paper is transported at the
high speed.
2)
The speed is reduced to the process speed before reaching
90mm from D1PPD.
3)
Feeding of the second sheet is started. Since the first sheet is
covering the main unit and the 1-stage paper feed unit, the
second sheet is transported at the process speed.
4)
When the paper rear edge turns off D1PPD, the transport
motor is accelerated to transport the next paper at a high
speed.
5)
When the next paper turns on D1PPD, the paper interval with
the previous paper is detected.
6)
According to the paper interval with the previous paper, the
timing of speed reduction is varied to adjust the paper interval.
However, speed reduction must be completed before reaching
90mm from D1PPD.
When feeding paper from the other tray, the operations are per-
formed in the same manner. That is, when the rear edge of the
paper turns off D1PPD, the transport motor is accelerated, and
when the next paper turns on D1PPD, the transport motor is decel-
erated at the proper timing.
2. Paper empty detection
When the rotation plate lifts and stops at the paper feed enable
position, paper empty in the tray is detected during paper feed
operation by the paper empty detector (D1PED).

D1LM
Paper feed tray lift-up motor
(Paper feed tray 2)
Drives the lift plate of the paper feed tray, and maintains the contact pressure between paper on the
top and the paper pickup roller at a proper level to provide a stable paper feed power.
D1PED
Paper empty detector (Paper feed tray 2)
Detects paper empty in the paper feed tray.
D1PTC
Paper feed tray vertical transport clutch
(Paper feed tray 2)

DPFM
Paper feed motor
Drives the paper feed tray 2, 3, and 4 sections.
D1PFC
Paper feed clutch (Paper feed tray 2)
Controls ON/OFF of the rollers (the paper pickup roller, the paper feed roller, and the paper transport
roller 2) in the paper feed tray section.
D1PQD
Paper feed tray insertion detector /
Paper remaining quantity detector
(Paper feed tray 2)
Detects insertion of the paper feed tray, and detects the paper remaining quantity.
D1PPD
Paper feed tray paper transport detector
(Paper feed tray 2)
Detects of the paper feed tray paper pass through the paper transport roller 1, and detects a paper
jam.
D1COCS
Paper feed tray open/close detector
(Paper feed tray 2)
Detects open/close of the right transport section of the paper feed tray.
No.
 Name
Function and operation
1
Paper transport roller 2 (Paper feed tray 2)
Transports paper from the paper feed tray 3 and 4 to the transport roller of the machine.
2
Paper pickup roller (Paper feed tray 2)
Picks up paper on the top and feeds it to the paper feed roller.
3
Paper feed roller (Paper feed tray 2)
Feeds paper to the paper transport section.
4
Paper separation roller (Paper feed tray 2)
Separates paper to prevent double feed.
5
Paper transport roller 1 (Paper feed tray 2)
Transports paper from the paper feed tray section to the machine.
6
Paper size detection block (Paper feed tray 2)
The paper size is detected by the paper size detection PWB by utilizing that the positions of the
concave and the convex sections of the block which is in contact with the paper size detection PWB
are changed according to the paper length.
7
Paper guide (longitudinal direction)
(Paper feed tray 2)
When the position is changed according to the paper length, the positions of the concave and the
convex sections of the paper size detection block which is in contact with the paper size detection
PWB detector are changed by the paper size detection block drive gear.
8
Paper size detection block drive gear
(Paper feed tray 2)
Transmits the paper guide position (longitudinal direction) to the paper size detection block position in
order to detect the paper size.
9
Paper guide (lateral direction) (Paper feed tray 2)
Prevents paper feed skew.
10
Lift plate (Paper feed tray 2)
Lifts up paper and maintain the contact pressure between paper on the top and the paper pickup
roller to provide a stable paper feed power.
11
Paper size detection PWB (Paper feed tray 2)
Detects the paper size by utilizing the combination of the concave and the convex sections of the
paper size detection block whose position is changed in connection with the paper guide position
(longitudinal direction) and ON/OFF of the three switches.
12
Paper remaining quantity detection actuator
(Paper feed tray 2)
The lift plate position is changed according to the paper remaining quantity, and the paper remaining
detection actuator position is also changed. It is detected by the paper remaining quantity detector to
recognize the paper remaining quantity.
13
Dry heater (Paper feed tray 2) (Option)
Dehumidifies the paper feed tray.
14
Paper feed tray control PWB
Controls the paper feed tray 2 and 3.
