ROUTINE MAINTENANCE

CLEANING THE TRANSFER CHARGER
If copies start becoming streaky or blotchy, the transfer charger may be dirty.
Clean the charger using the following procedure.
1
Turn the power switch off.
2
Open the bypass tray and the side 
cover.
3
Lift and pull out the upper paper tray.
4
Take the charger cleaner out by 
holding the tab.
5
Set the charger cleaner onto the 
transfer charger and gently slide the 
cleaner in the direction indicated by 
the arrow two or three times.
If the white sheet metal is 
smudged with toner, 
wipe it with a soft, clean 
cloth.

Return the charger cleaner to its 
original position. Close the upper 
paper tray. Close the side cover by 
pressing the handle on the cover.
7
Turn the power switch on.
Slide the charger cleaner from one end to the 
other end along the groove of the transfer 
charger. If the cleaner is stopped on the way, 
smudges on copies may occur.

SUPPLIES
STORAGE OF SUPPLIES
Standard supplies for this product that are to be replaced by the user are paper, TD cartridge and drum cartridge.
SUPPLY PART NUMBERS
When ordering supplies, please use the correct part 
numbers as listed below.
Supply list
* Based on copying onto A4 size paper at 5% toned 
area
(The life of the TD cartridge which has been included 
in the machine at the factory is approximately 4,500 
sheets.)
PROPER STORAGE
● Store the supplies in a location that is:
clean and dry,
at a stable temperature,
not exposed to direct sunlight.
● Store paper in the wrapper and lying 
flat.
Paper stored out of the wrapper or in packages 
standing on end may curl or get damp, resulting in 
paper misfeeds.
For best copying results, be sure to use only SHARP products.
Only genuine SHARP consumables carry the Genuine Supplies label.
GENUINE SUPPLIES
Be sure to use only genuine SHARP parts 
and supplies.

MOVING INSTRUCTIONS
When moving this machine, follow the procedure below.
1
Turn the power switch off and 
disconnect the power cord.
2
Push on both ends of the front cover 
and open it.
3
Pull the TD cartridge out while pulling 
up on the lock release lever.
Pull out the TD cartridge 
until the green strap 
handle can be grasped. 
While supporting the TD 
cartridge at the green 
label with your left hand, 
grasp the green strap 
handle with your right 
hand and pull the TD 
cartridge all the way out.

Close the front cover.

Gently lift and pull out the paper tray 
until it stops.
6
Push the pressure plate down until it 
locks in place and lock the plate using 
the pressure plate lock which has 
been stored in the front of the paper 
tray.

Use a coin (or suitable object) to 
attach to the left side of the machine 
the screw that has been stored in the 
front of the paper tray (upper paper 
tray in AL-1644).

Gently push the paper tray into the 
machine.
For AL-1644, repeat step 5, 6, and 8 for both the 
upper and lower trays.

Close the bypass tray. Attach the 
packing materials and tape which 
were removed during installation of 
the machine. See "SET-UP" (p.13).

Pack the machine into the carton. See 
"CHECKING PACKED COMPONENTS 
AND ACCESSORIES" (p.12).
When moving this machine, be sure to remove the TD cartridge in advance.

be reinstalled to prevent shipping damage.
