This program will allow the installation of the hospitallity program and also enables
the installation of the diagnostic utility program.

To use the Backup and Restore utility you will need the following:

1.  APLD Cable (Refer to cables section)
2.  PC (with Rs232 serial com port)
3.  Disk 1 of 2 (Which Contains the demo hospitality program)
4.  Disk 2 of 2 (Which contains the Backup & Restore program)
5.  Blank.exe which contains the Blank hospitality application.

Insert Disk 1 of 2 and from windows explorer run a:\setup95.bat when finished close
the dos prompt. This will create the following folders and subfolders.

The folders FLASH and RAM contain the files that will make up the Demo Pos
application.

Insert Disk 2 of 2 and from windows explorer run a:\Install.bat when finished close
the dos prompt.
This will install the Backup and Restore program icons and create the following
Backup folder C:\UP5700.BAK and subfolders and files as shown.

To run the either of the POS SERIAL  backup and restore or the POS NETWORK
backup.
Select the following icons from the START menu PROGRAMS

Or

REMEMBER YOU CAN ONLY RESTORE USING THE

APLD CABLE… Via the POS SERIAL BACKUP OPTION.

When setting up a new 5000 hospitality program it is advisable to setup the Product
file and key layouts / Macro’s etc on a computer first by running the FILE
MAINTENANCE and the Till application. The following will guide you through setting
up this function.

In windows choose Start 

→

 Programs 

→

                              the PC will reboot into

DOS

Once in dos you need to set the environment variables to do this, Type the following
SET command, as shown. Where GLOBE is the name of the directory containing the
customers program.

Check that the string has been entered correctly by typing SET from the command

prompt.

Once the environment variable has been set correctly change to the FLASH\EX
directory within the customers directory as shown.

Finally to launch the application type in one of the following.
FM.EXE for (File Maintenance) or S98.EXE for the tilling application.

CONNECT THE APLD CABLE  FROM THE PC TO THE POS
(for cable specification see section 17)

SET DIP SWITCH 5 on AND ALL OTHER SWITCHES OFF

REBOOT THE POS

ENSURE THE MESSAGE COMMAND WAITING IS DISPLAYED.

Select the Pos Serial backup icon from START menu PROGRAMS

This will reboot the pc into dos into the following directory C:\UP5700.BAK
To restore the demo program into the Pos type the following from the
C:\UP5700.BAK directory.
5700BAKA UP5700.PAK

Select 2 for Restore.
