2 Display
The error address and bit are displayed only when an error occurs
(They are not displayed if there is no error.)
3 How to exit the program
After displaying the check result, press the PANEL key or any key to
terminate the operation.
3-3. ROM DIAGNOSTICS
This diagnostics program is used to test the standard ROM and the ser-
vice ROM. 
Touch a desired process to execute the individual diagnostics program.
When Cancel key is pressed, the screen returns to the diagnostics
menu.
(1) Standard ROM Check
1 Checking
For the standard ROM area (00000000H-003FFFFFH), the check
sum is checked to be correct. If the lower 2 digits of the check sum
is 40H, “Standard ROM Sum Check   :  PASS!!” is displayed. The
ROM version is also displayed. In case of a sum check error, “Stan-
dard ROM Sum Check    :  ERROR!!” is displayed.

3 How to exit the program
After displaying the check result, press the PANEL key or any key to
terminate the operation.
(2) SERVICE ROM Check
1 Checking
For the service ROM area composed of the 4 EPROM’s
(00400000H-007FFFFFH), addition is made to each byte of each
chip. If the check sum is 10H, it is normal. If the lower two digits of
the check sum is 10H, “Service ROM Sum Check

   :   PASS!!” is
displayed. The ROM version is also displayed. In case of a check
sum error, “Service ROM Sum Check 
*
   :   ERROR!!” is displayed. 
If the head of the ROM version installed in each chip is neither
“27801R” nor “sample”, it is judged that no EPROM is installed and
sum check is not performed.

3 How to exit the program
After displaying the check result, press the PANEL key or any key to
terminate the operation.
3-4. CLOCK & CLERK DIAGNOSTICS
This diagnostics program is used to check the operation of the CKDC
clock crystal.
(1) Clock & Clerk Check
1 Checking
The operation of the CKDK clock crystal is checked. 
The display section of “YY/MM/DD & MM:HH:SS” is renewed con-
tinuously. Check the renewed time. Also for the UP-800 series only,
the code of the key inserted into the clerk key switch is displayed in
hexadecimal number.
2 Termination method
When the panel or any key is pressed after displaying the check
result, the operation is terminated.
3-5. TOUCH PANEL DIAGNOSTICS
This diagnostics program is used to check the touch panel. 
Touch a desired process to execute the individual diagnostics program.
When Cancel key is pressed, the screen returns to the diagnostics
menu. 
(1) Touch Panel Check
1 Check content
•  For the panel input test, the dotted square is displayed at the four
corners of the LCD sequentially (right upper 
3 left upper 3 left
lower 
3 right lower). When each dotted square is touched, it
becomes a black square with a catch sound. 
2 When all the four corners are touched, the operation is completed.
The operation is completed also by pressing Cancel key.

(2) Touch Panel Test (Certification Test)
1 Check content
Draw a picture. The touched line is displayed in black, and the rest
of the display in white. 
2 Termination method
When any key is pressed, the operation is terminated.
3-6. RS232 I/F DIAGNOSTICS
This diagnostics program is used to check the RS232C interface of the
sub PWB. 
The connector is available in 9-pin D-Sub and RJ-45. 
Connect the 9-pin D-Sub loopback connector (UKOG-6705RCZZ)
shown in Fig. 3-11 Wiring diagram to the check port. 
For the RS port of the RJ-45, use the RJ45 loopback connector shown
in Fig. 3-12 Wiring diagram to check.

* CH& is only for the UP-3500. Since CH5 is the exclusive port for the
pole display UPP20DP, check it with “3-8 (1) 20DP Display Check.”
(1) CH1 Check
1 Checking
If any channel is not set, the error message (ERROR: CH1)
appears.
When any channel is set, the following checks are performed.
i. Control signal check
The read check of the above input and the interruption check of CS,
CI, and CD are performed. 
In the read check, ER and RS are changed over in the above
sequence and the logics of DR, CI, CD, and CS are checked. If the
logic differs from that in the table, ERROR is displayed. ON in the
table indicates ACTIVE LOW, and OFF means HIGH. 
In the interruption check, an interruption of CS, CI, or CD is allowed
one by one. (MASK is canceled.) 
If no interruption is made when each signal is active, or if an inter-
ruption is generated when non-active, ERROR is displayed. 
The above check is repeated in 4 cycles. 
ii. Data transfer check 
Loopback data transfer of 00H-0FFH (256 bytes) is performed. The
baud rate is set to 38400 BPS. 
iii. Timer check (RS232 on-board timer)
The timer is booted by RCVDT before performing CHECK ii. Set to
5ms, and perform the following check. 
• During execution of CHECK ii, TRQ- must not be generated. 
• After completion of CHECK ii, TRQ- must be generated in 5ms.
2 Display
All the details of errors are printed on the journal.
3 How to exit the program
Press the CANCEL key to exit the program.

The procedure for checking, display and the method of exiting the
programs are the same as for CH1 check.
(3) CH4 Check

The procedure for checking, display and the method of exiting the
program are the same as for CH1 check.
3-7. LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DIAGNOSTICS
This diagnostics program is used to check the LCD display. 
When the LCD Certification Diag is used, turn OFF the LCD auto power
OFF function, or prepare the object data of the version which is turned
OFF. 
(1) Liquid Crystal Display Check
1 Checking
The screen shows the following test patterns. Press the ENTER key
to move to the next test pattern.
i. Black and white checkered pattern with 1-dot spacing.
ii.  Reverse-videoed test pattern of i
iii. Vertical stripe pattern with 1-dot spacing
iv. Reverse-videoed test pattern of iii
v. Horizontal stripe pattern with 1-dot spacing
vi. Reserve-videoed test pattern of v
vii.Display of 16 gradations from Black to White
viii.The color bar (16 colors) is displayed.  From the left: black, blue,
green, cyan, red, magenta, brown, white, gray, bright blue, bright
green, bright cyan, bright red, bright magenta, bright yellow,
bright white
ix. The outermost periphery of LCD’s active area is displayed in
1-dot line.

x. “H” pattern. “H” is displayed in 40 digits and 11 lines.
“H” is displayed in 39 digits only in the 11th line.
3 How to exit the program.
You can exit the program by pressing the ENTER key when the final
test pattern is shown on screen or by pressing the CANCEL key
during checking.
(2) LCD Certification Test Diag 1
1 Check content
The test pattern is displayed according to the following check proce-
dures. When the panel or any key is pressed, the next pattern is dis-
played. When the panel or any key is pressed with the last pattern
displayed, this diagnostics is terminated. 
I. A cross mark “+” is displayed in black at the specified positions,
and the background is in white. 
<UP-800 series (6.5 inch)> 
II. The cross marks “+” are deleted, and all the area is displayed in
white. 
2 Termination method
When the panel or any key is pressed with the last pattern dis-
played, the operation is terminated.
(3) LCD Certification Test Diag 2
1 Check content
All the area is displayed in a same color phase; 16 gradations of
white to black. When the panel or any key is pressed, the nest pat-
tern is displayed. 
2 Termination method
When the panel or any key is pressed with the last pattern dis-
played, the operation is terminated.
(4) LCD Certification Test Diag 3
1 Check content
All the area is displayed in a same color, and the display color is
switched in every 2 sec. The display colors are shown in the Color
Palette attached separately. 
The colors in the Color Palette are switched and displayed in every
2 sec. 
The above operation is looped until the end. 
2 Termination method
When the panel or any key is pressed, the operation is terminated.
(5) LCD Certification Test Diag 4
1 Check content
Black squares on the white background are displayed as shown
below. 
• UP-800 series 6.5” LCD pattern
When the panel or any key is pressed, the screen is switched to
#808080 (Gray) background display. 
2 Termination method
When the panel or any key is pressed with the last pattern dis-
played, the operation is terminated.
3-8. REAR DISPLAY DIAGNOSTICS
(1) 20DP Display check
The display tests of the option rear display and the option pole display
are performed. For connection, note the following. 
•  Option rear display (UP120DP)
UP-350 Connect to the internal connector (RS CH5).
•  Option pole display (UPP20DP)
UP-3500 and UP-800 series Connect to RS CH5.
*In the test program, the following patterns are displayed. When the
panel or any key is pressed after second lighting of all digits, the
screen returns to the diagnostics menu. 
1 Check content
The test patterns are displayed in the following procedures. When
the panel or any key is pressed, the nest pattern is displayed. 
i. The following test patterns are displayed. The decimal point is
shifted digit by digit from the lower digit.

ii. The test pattern of lighting all the digits is displayed.
