2. DVD section
• “No Disc” is displayed. (Focus error)
Does the objective lens move up and down after the disc is 
removed ? (Check the following items.)
No
“No Disc” is displayed.
Refer to “When the focus servo does not function”.

Is signal input to pins 122 - 125 of IC3001 ?
No
Check connection of optical pickup cables.
If no abnormality is detected, replace optical pickup.
     
Yes
Is focus control signal output to pin 152 of IC3001 ?
No
Check circuits around the power supply for pin 149 of IC3001.
If no abnormality is detected, replace IC3001.
     
Yes
Is focus control signal output from pin 152 of IC3001 to pin 23 of 
IC3704 ?
No
Check focus control signal line between IC3001 and IC3704.
Check M8V line.
     
Yes
No
Is focus control drive voltage output from pins 1 and 28 of 
IC3704 ?
No
Is voltage of 8 V applied to pin 22 of IC3704 ?
 Yes
Check that pin 16 of IC3704 is “H” and replace IC3704.
If pin 16 of IC3704 is “L”, check pin 73 of IC3001.
     
Yes
Is focus control drive voltage applied to the focus actuator termi-
nal ?
No
Check line between IC3704 and focus actuator terminal. Check 
CN3301.
     
Yes
Check connection of optical pickup cables.
If no abnormality is detected, replace the traverse chassis.
• “No Disc” is displayed during DVD playback (when CD is playable) ... When DVD laser does not light up.
Is control signal output from pin 133 of IC3001 ?
No
Check and replace IC3001.
     
Yes
Is voltage of 5 V applied to emitter of Q3306 ?
No
Check S5V line.
     
Yes
Is voltage of approx. 2 V supplied to pin 2 of CN3301 ?
No
Check around Q3305 and Q3306.
     
Yes
Check connection of optical pickup cables.
If no abnormality is detected, replace traverse chassis.
Note: The laser diode is easily damaged by static electricity.
Carefully check static electricity and electric leak of the measuring 
instrument.

Is control signal output from pin 135 of IC3001 ?
No
Check and replace IC3001.
     
Yes
Is voltage of 5 V applied to the emitter of Q3304 ?
No
Check S5V line.
     
Yes
Is voltage of approx. 2 V supplied to pin 6 of CN3301 ?
No
Check around Q3303 and Q3304.
     
Yes
Check connection of optical pickup cables.
If no abnormality is detected, replace traverse chassis.
Note: The laser diode is easily damaged by static electricity.
Carefully check static electricity and electric leak of the measuring 
instrument.
Put a disc on the DISC tray.
Yes
Disc normally loaded?

Check loading switch.

Is RF signal level output from pin 17 of
CN3301 normal ?

Is objective lens of optical pickups clean?

Check line from pin 2 of CNP601 to S-OUT terminal (SO602) and

Is brightness signal output to pin 1 of SCART OUT terminal
