When the transport cover is opened.
Is the transport cover opened?
• Close the transport cover.
Does the input of the connector J4-
2(FCVRSW) change when the
door switch is turned ON/OFF?
• Cover switch improper fitting
or failure.

(b) U11:Sorter paper abnormal
Paper is in the sort bin when when the staple sort mode or sort mode is selected.
• More than 50(30/Ledger, A3) copies are received by the sort bin.
• Sheets of paper of different width or sizes unsuitable for stapling(invoice,etc.)
are received.
"U11" is cleared when all the copies in the sort bin are removed.
(c) Staple cartridge is not detected
Under the following conditions, copies won't be stapled:
• Pressing the manual staple key
• Selecting the staple sort mode
Note: The "Add staple" indication is an alarm. All functions other than stapling
are normal.
Is the staple detecting sensor
dirty?
• Clean the staple detecting
sensor.
Does the output from J11-6
(NEEDSN) change when the
staple cartridge is in and out?
• Staple detecting sensor (P19)
failure---replace the sensor.

(2) Paper Jam
Detection of Paper Jam
• FA-S680 copy paper transport condition is monitored by the sensors shown
below. When paper is jammed, the jam position indicator (
 ) blinks. at the
same time, "paper jam" is memorized by code number (J60). (Maximum 10
occurrences including options.)
• To recall paper jam codes, refer to the copier service manual "F8-06", page 4-
1(7).
(a) Jam conditions
• When the sorter paper feed sensor does not detect paper within a predetermined
time after the paper exit sensor in the copier detects paper.
• When the sorter paper exit sensor does not detect paper within a predetermined
time after the paper feed sensor in the sorter detects paper.
• When the sorter paper feed sensor and the sorter paper exit sensor detect
paper when the power switch is turned on.
To clear "paper jam" indication, remove the paper, reset the sorter mode and
select the sorter mode again.
(d) oF: Paper detection problem
When the number of sorted copies received by a sorter bin exceeds the specified
number of copies.
To clear  "oF", remove all the copied sheets and press the "Sorter mode selection"
key.

(3) Machine malfunctions
• When the CPU P.C.B. can not control the machine or any trouble occurs, the
error code(Exx) appears in the message display of the copier and the machine
will stop.
• To clear Exx, release the sort mode and select the sort mode again.

Cause
• Communication between the copier and the sorter
is faulty.
• The reed cam switch is not re-turned ON within a
predetermined time after motor drive signal is
output.
• The bin home position detecting switch is not
turned OFF within a predetermined time after the
bins are lifted up from the bin home position.
• The bin upper limit switch is turned ON when the
bins are lifting up.
• The bin lower limit switch is turned ON when the
bins are lifting down.
• The staple position detecting sensor is not turned
ON within a predetermined time after motor drive
signal is output.
• The stapler swing home position detecting sensor
is not turned ON within a predetermined time after
motor drive signal is output.
• The stapler swing home position sensor is truned
ON when bins are lifting.
• The cam sensor is not turned ON within a
predetermined time after output of the motor drive
signal.
Next, The cam sensor is not turned ON within a
predetermined time after output of motor reverse
drive signal.
• The stapler paper detecting sensor is turned ON
when the power is turned ON.
• After the staple is completed, the cam sensor is
turned ON when the stapler is returned home
position.

• Tamper home position detecting sensor is not
turned ON within a predetermined time after
output of the motor drive signal.
• Tamper home position sensor sees the tamper
at home position, but tamper doesn't move to start
position (15 mm out of home).
