7.2.
Cleaning or Replacing
7.2.1.
Cleaning the Screen (Film)
7.2.2.
Caring for the Eraser
Gently wipe the screen film and unit with a water-dampened cloth
that has been thoroughly wrung.
Notes:
1. Do not use thinner, benzine or cleaners containing
abrasives, as this may result in discoloration or
permanent damage on the screen surface and cause
difficulty of erasing.
2. Do not wipe the screen film with a dry cloth. (Doing so
can generate a static charge.)
When the erasing surface of the eraser has become dirty, and it is
hard to remove the dirt, hold down the sheet under the top sheet
with your finger, and peel off the dirty sheet (white or gray sheet)
by pulling it in the direction of the arrow.
Notes:
1. Be sure to peel off only one sheet; white or gray sheet
of the eraser.
2. When the Eraser becomes thin, make sure that the cor-
ners of the eraser do not strike the screen during eras-
ing as this may damage the screen.

7.2.3.
Cleaning the Pick-up Roller and the Platen Roller
1. Remove the copy paper, then push down the Printer Open
Lever to open the Printer Door.
2. Pull out the Thermal Transfer Film.
3. Remove the dirt or stains off the Platen Roller and the Pick-up
Roller carefully.
Note:
Dampen a soft cloth with neutral kitchen cleaner diluted
in water, wring the cloth thoroughly, and wipe the entire
surface of the rollers while rotating them. If this does not
remove all dirt, wipe with a cloth dampened with ethyl
alcohol.

7.2.4.
Cleaning the Thermal Printer Head
4. Install the Thermal Transfer Film in its original position (See
4.7.), close the Printer Door, and load the copy paper.
Notes:
1. Close the Printer Door firmly until it clicks into place.
(The Printer Door should be closed to make copies
properly. Confirm both latches are locked.)
2. If "U => 12 => U => 12 => U..." flashes on the Display
Window after closing the Printer Door and turning on
the power, the Thermal Transfer Film is loose or is not
correctly positioned. Make sure that the Thermal Trans-
fer Film has been installed properly and tightened.
1. Remove the copy paper, and push down the Printer Open
Lever to open the Printer Door. (See section 7.2.3.-1.)
2. Dampen the tip of a cotton swab in ethyl alcohol and gently
wipe the Thermal Printer Head.
Note:
Never touch the Thermal Printer Head directly with your
hands. (Doing so may disable copying.)
3. Close the Printer Door firmly until it clicks into place.

7.2.5.
Replacing the Thermal Transfer Film
When the remaining copy paper becomes about 15 sheets, the Remaining Film Indicator begins to blink.
When "U => 12 => U => 12 => U..." is displayed on the Display Window, copying is not possible due to lack of Thermal Transfer Film.
In this case, replace the film using the following procedure.
Note:
• Use the separately sold product (UG-6001) for the Thermal Transfer Film.
(If a film other than this is used, print quality may be affected which results in malfunction.)
• The Thermal Transfer Film is for one-time use only. Dispose the used Thermal Transfer Film as a "plastic product" ac-
cording to the provisions in the region.
• A negative of the copied image will remain on the Thermal Transfer Film. For information protection, cutting the film with
a scissors and the others are recommended at disposal.
• When replacing the Thermal Transfer Film, clean the attached part of the film shaft reception section.
1. Remove the copy paper, push down the Printer Open Lever to open the Printer Door. (See 7.2.3-1.)
2. Pull out the Thermal Transfer Film. (See 7.2.3-2.)
3. Install a new Thermal Transfer Film for replacement. (See 4.7.)
4. Close the Printer Door firmly until it clicks into place. (See 7.2.4-3.)
Note:
If "U => 12 => U => 12 => U..." flashes on the Display Window after closing the Printer Door and turning on the
power, the Thermal Transfer Film is loose or is not correctly positioned.
Make sure that the Thermal Transfer Film has been installed properly and tightened.
