10 TROUBLESHOOTING
10.1. Troubleshooting-1 (when no error message is displayed on PC)
Phenomenon
Possible Cause

No power
1. Power cord is not correctly inserted.
Insert the power cord correctly.
2. Cables in the scanner are not
    connected properly. (especially around
    POWER Board)
Insert the cables properly.
Pay attention
 when
 reassembling
 the scanner.
3. FAN does not rotate.
1. Rotate the FAN, manually.
2. Check the connection between CN803
    (on the POWER Board) and FAN.
3. Remove the FAN. 
4. Power circuit (including a safety circuit)
does not work properly.
1. Replace POWER Board.
5. LED (Indicators) or its drive circuit does
not work correctly.
1. Check the following connections and
    soldering condition on PANEL, DRIVE,
    CENTER, and CONTROL Boards:
  (1) CN1 (PANEL Board) to CN4003
       (DRIVE Board)
  (2) CN4004 (DRIVE Board) to CN2003
       (CENTER Board)
  (3) CN2001 (CENTER Board) to CN1001
       (CONTROL Board)
2. Replace the PANEL Board.
3. Replace the DRIVE Board.
4. Replace the CENTER Board.
5. Replace the CONTROL Board.
6. Boot program of this scanner does not
work correctly. 
1. Check the soldering condition on
    CONTROL Board. 
2. Replace the CONTROL Board.

Defects in the scanned 
image (ex: black or
white line or banding in
the image) 
1. Dust on ADF Glass (F) or ADF Glass
    (B)
Clean the glass surface.
2. Dust on the CIS lens inside ADF Glass
    (F) or ADF Glass (B)
Remove the glass, and then clean the lens.
3. CIS (F) or the image processing circuit
    for the front is broken. 
1. Execute "Image Sensor Output" in
    Sec. 9.3.6 to check the CIS condition.
2. Check the following connections and
    soldering condition:
   (1) CIS (F) to CN3001, CN3002, and
        CN3003 (CIS (F) RELAY Board)
   (2) CN3004, CN3005 (CIS (F) RELAY
        Board) to CN2008, CN2009 (CENTER
        Board)
   (3) CN2001 (CENTER Board) to CN1001
        (CONTROL Board)
3. Replace the CIS (F).
4. Replace the CIS (F) RELAY Board.
5. Replace the CENTER Board.
6. Replace the CONTROL Board.
4. CIS (B) or the image processing circuit
    for the back is broken.
1. Execute "Image Sensor Output" in
    Sec. 9.3.6 to check the CIS condition.
2. Check the following connections and
    soldering condition:
   (1) CIS (B) to CN3006 and CN3007 (CIS (B)
        LED RELAY Board)
   (2) CN3011 (CIS (B) LED RELAY Board),
        CN3009 (CIS (B) RELAY Board) to
         CN3024 (POWER RELAY Board) 
   (3) CN3010 (CIS (B) RELAY Board) to
          CN2011 (CENTER Board)
   (4) CN3023 (POWER RELAY Board) to
          CN2010 (CENTER Board)
   (5) CN2001 (CENTER Board) to CN1001
          (CONTROL Board)
3. Replace the CIS (B).
4. Replace the CIS (B) LED RELAY Board.
5. Replace the POWER RELAY Board.
6. Replace the CENTER Board.
7. Replace the CONTROL Board.
Scanning position is
shifted.
1.When reassembling CIS or mechanical
parts related to conveying documents,
re-adjustment is not done. 
Execute "All Position" and/or "Individual
Position"
 in Sec. 9.3.7 to adjust the
scanning position.
2. When replacing CONTROL Board, CIS,
    or mechanical parts related to
    conveying documents, re-adjustment is
    not done.
The document skews or
has a crease when
scanning.
1. Document Guides are not set correctly,
   according to the size of documents on
   the Hopper Tray.
Set the Document Guides correctly.
2. Rollers are dirty.
Clean the rollers.
3. Rollers are not attached to the default
    position properly when assembling.
Assemble the rollers properly again.
4. Rollers have reached their life
    expectancy.
Replace the rollers after inspecting them.
Note:
When replacing Paper Feed,
Separation, and DFP Rollers, be sure
to clear counter for replacing roller to
zero with Service Utility.

         DETECTOR Board)
     b. CN3013 (SIZE DETECTOR Board)
         to CN24 (HOPPER RELAY Board)
     c. CN25 (HOPPER RELAY Board) to
         CN27 (SENSOR RELAY Board)
     d. CN29 (SENSOR RELAY Board) to
         CN2006(CENTER Board)
4. Check P_EXIST signal: 0 V when paper
    exists. 
→ CN3012-2nd pin, CN24-3rd
                    pin,CN27-3rd pin,CN2008-
                    3rd pin,CN2006-14 pin and
                    CN1001-3rd pin
5. Check the soldering condition of
    IC1001 on the CONTROL Board and
    repair it.
6. Replace faulty parts or boards.
U11(Paper feed
jam): Paper did not
reach the Waiting

1. Reassemble the rollers.
2. Check the paper feed mechanism from
    the Paper Feed Motor’s gear to Paper
    Feed Roller’s gear. (See 6.3.)

    Separation, DFP) are dirty.
1. Clean the rollers. (See Sec.7.)
2. Clear counter for cleaning roller to zero
    with the service utility’s operation in
    Sec.9.

    and DFP Rollers after checking each
    roller configuration and Scanner
    Counter of Service Utility software.

     a. CN5 (WAITING SENSOR Board) to
         CN30 (OUTER CONVEYOR 
         RELAY Board)
     b. CN32 (OUTER CONVEYOR 
         RELAY Board) to CN2010
         (CENTER Board)
4. Check the following signals:
     a. WAITING signal (CN3011-8th or
         CN1015-4th pin)
         
→0 V (when none exists on the
            Waiting Sensor)
     b. Check the reference signal for the
         WAITING signal on the CENTER
          Board.
              IC2019-2nd pin: 1.5 V or less
            IC2019-3rd pin: Approx. 1.5 V
     c. Check comparator output signal.
        
→ IC2019-1st pin: 3.3 V (when no
           document exists)
5. Replace faulty parts or cables.
6. Paper Feed Motor does not
    work properly.
1. Check the motor mechanism condition,
    by carrying out Feed Motor test in Sec.
    9.3.6.
2. Check the following connections and
    soldering condition on each connector:
     a. Paper Feed Motor to CN3026
          (POWER RELAY Board)
     b. CN3021 (POWER RELAY Board) to
         CN4009 (DRIVE Board)
3. Check the following signals on the
    DRIVE Board:
    
→ CN4009-9, 11, 12, and 14th pins:
         See Fig. 10.2.1.
4. Replace faulty cables.
5. Replace Paper Feed Motor.
7. Paper Feed Motor control
    circuit does not work
    properly.
1. Check the following connections and
    soldering condition on each connector:
      a. CN4005 (DRIVE Board) to
          CN2004 (CENTER Board)
2. Check the soldering condition of
    IC4007 and its surrounding parts.
3. Check the following signals on the
    DRIVE Board:
      a. IC4007-12th pin (CLK)
          See Fig. 10.2.2.
      b. IC4007-19th pin (VREF): 1.8 V or
          less
      c. IC4007-15th pin (ENABLE): 3.3 V
         (when executing Feed Motor test)
4. Check the soldering condition of
   IC1032 on the CONTROL Board to
   repair it.
5. Replace faulty parts or boards.
