1-6.  OPTICS BLOCK ASSEMBLY AND LAMP DUCT REMOVAL
1-6-1.  LAMP DUCT BLOCK DISASSMBLY
1   Remove 1 screw from the Adjuster Cover, 
+PVTP2 4x16
2   Remove 2 screws from the Adjuster Block and 
the Supporter, +PWHTP2 4x25
3   Remove 2 screws from the Lamp Duct, +PVTP2 
4x16
4   Gently pull out Optics Block from cabinet.
Caution: When replacing the Optics Unit Block 
Assembly be sure to remove any dust particles.
1   Remove 1 screw from the Upper Duct, 
+BVTP2 4x16
2   Disconnect 2 connectors from the Power 
Supply (Ballast Unit).
3   Remove 1 screw from the Power Supply, 
+BVTP2 4x16
4   Remove 1 screw from the 
Power Supply, +BVTP2 4x16
5   Using caution not to damage the 
HV wires, push the HV Cable through 
the Plug Holder.
(See Appendix C for illustrations.) 
Note: To remove each duct, gently lift the tabs to 
release from the hooks.
6   Carefully detach from the Optics Block.
7   Remove 1 screw from the T board, 
+BVTP 3x12 TYPE2 IT-3
8   Disconnect 1 connector from the T board.
9   Disconnect 1 connector from the S2 board.
10   Remove 2 screws from the Fuse Holder, 
+BVTP 3x12 TYPE2 IT-3

Note:The D.C. Fan is secured to the Optics Block Assembly with Turn Rivet screws. 
To remove these screws use a screw driver to unscrew the screw until it lifts slightly 
above the rivet then pull the screw and the rivet out from the fan. 
(Refer to the illustration to the left.)

1   Remove 2 screws from the Rear Cabinet and the 
AC Bracket, +BVTP 3x12 TYPE2 IT-3
2   Remove 2 screws from the FB1A Block Assembly, 
+BVTP2 4x16

3   G Board – Disconnect 6 connectors then remove 6 screws, +BVTP 3x12 TYPE2 IT-3
4   Fan Bracket – Disconnect 1 Connector then remove 2 screws, +BVTP2 4x16 
5   Turn Rivet – Unscrew and carefully pull out from the fan to release it from the shield.
 
Note: The fan is secured to the Chassis Assembly with Turn Rivet screws. To remove these screws use a screw driver to unscrew the 
screw until it lifts slightly above the rivet then pull the screw and the rivet out from the fan. 
6   A Board – Disconnect 2 connectors then remove 3 screws, +BVST3x6, and pull out from the FB1A Block Assembly connector
7   F Board – Disconnect 2 connectors then remove 2 screws, +BVST 3x6
8   TUU2 Block – Release the RF connector
9   FB1A Block Assembly – Disconnect 6 connectors
10   BC Board – Disconnect 2 connectors then remove 2 screws, +BVST 3x6
11   BC Shield – Remove 3 screws, +BVST 3x6
12   G Bracket – Remove 6 screws, +BVST 3x6,  then remove the AU Shield by removing 1 screw, +BVST 3x6
13   U Board – Disconnect 1 connector, remove 2 screws +BVST 3x6, and pull out from FB1A Block Assembly connector
14   Terminal Bracket - Remove 3 screws, +PSW M3x8, 5 screws, + BVTP 3x12 TYPE2 IT-3, and 1 Hex Nut and 1 Washer
Caution: When replacing any part of the chassis be sure to remove any dust particles and clean the mirror.

1-8.  DIFFUSION PLATES (SCREENS) REMOVAL
1   Remove a total of 12 screws, +BVTP2 4x16
2 screws from the Top Holder, 
8 screws from the Bottom Holder and 
1 screw from each of the side holders. 
2   Gently pull the screens from the Screen Frame Assembly 
to dislodge from the double sided tape.
CAUTION: 
The screens are adhered to the Screen Frame Assembly with double sided tape (3-275-118-21). After removing the screens, use rubbing 
alcohol to gently clean the area to remove any excess tape.  The double sided tape must be replaced before mounting the screens to the 
Screen Frame Assembly to ensure that they are securely attached.  The illustration below indicates the approximate location of the double 
-side tape. For complete details, refer to the Sony Electronics Service Information website.

NOTE:   Order the same part number to replace Top & Side Mirror Edge Guards.

Caution:
- Holder screws should be tightened from the center to the outer screw positions.
